Five notable features of the GTA 5 Liberty City mod
1) The in-game city feels alive
While there are plenty of map mods for Grand Theft Auto 5, the Liberty City Preservation Project does something unique and cool. While most map mods only add the area and buildings, the GTA 5 Liberty City mod adds the NPCs and overall ambiance from the original 2008 title.
The pedestrians, traffic, and billboards make the modded city feel very much alive. For once, you may even forget that you are in Grand Theft Auto 5 and not Grand Theft Auto 4. There are also various random events that take place around the city, making it more lifelike.
2) It includes all GTA 4 radio stations
If you have been a fan of the GTA series for a long, then you may remember the grooving radio station of Grand Theft Auto 4. The GTA 5 Liberty City mod includes all the radio stations from the original game.
The Grand Theft Auto 4 radio stations appear alongside the GTA 5 station in the radio wheel. You can play as Franklin Clinton (or any other protagonist) and play the Liberty Rock Radio station in the modded map.
3) It comes with improved graphics
Grand Theft Auto 4's original graphics are not as great as the game when it was released in 2008 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. However, the GTA 5 Liberty City mod addresses this issue and offers high-quality visuals, similar to Grand Theft Auto 5. The NPCs, buildings, and cars are highly detailed and look freshly painted.
However, it also makes the modded open world look brighter than the original gameplay. While Liberty City originally was dark and gloomy, the modded version is bright and colorful similar to the HD Universe Los Santos.
4) Also runs on Steam Deck
The GTA 5 Liberty City mod also reportedly runs on the Steam Deck. According to an X user named Lumen (X/@LumenHD) the Liberty City Preservation Project runs on the handheld console smoothly. However, they stated that the game must be capped at 40 frames per second to get HD textures.
The X user clarified that there was no option to run the game in 60+ frames per second with HD textures. Nonetheless, it is very impressive that a third-party mod developed for PC can be smoothly run on the Steam Deck.

5) It also includes various minor details
The GTA 5 Liberty City mod also added various minor details that fans are surely loving. The mod preserves the infamous swing glitch, the Heart of Liberty City, and many other hidden details that are present in the original game.
Moreover, despite being in Grand Theft Auto 5, the Liberty City Police Department patrols the modded map in their own car fleet. The engine sounds of cars in Liberty City are also the same as the 2008 title. These minor details make it one of the greatest mods of all time.
