5 interesting features fans want in GTA Online 2
1) Cross-play option
The option of cross-play is arguably one of the most requested features after the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Fans have also been asking for this feature in the current game. Since Rockstar Games isn't likely to include cross-play in the decade-old title, many fans (including X user @videotechuk_) are hoping for this option in the upcoming game.
The American gaming studio does not allow cross-play between any platforms. Even Xbox Series X users cannot play with Xbox Series S or Xbox One players. As such, fans want the next title to have a cross-play option from the very start. It will be interesting to see what Rockstar does in this regard.
2) Sandbox mode
While Grand Theft Auto titles are already regarded as sandbox world games, an X user named Connor (X/@Connor_1134) suggested implementing a sandbox mode in GTA Online 2. They further elaborated that this should be like the Director Mode, but with multiplayer support.
The Director Mode gives you more control over the open-world game where you can create custom scenarios and roam without having to trigger missions or objectives. You can even disable the wanted level and be involved in any criminal activities. We will have to wait until the release of GTA 6 to know whether or not the mode gets any new updates.
3) Rockstar Editor
Rockstar Editor is one of the most popular in-game tools among players who record in-game scenarios and edit and import them later. It is an in-game video editor that lets you record and edit cool in-game shots. X user Chairmen Ninja (X/@cha1rm3n_n1nja) suggested it return in GTA Online 2 as well.
Rockstar recently removed the Rockstar Editor from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. However, the tool should be reintroduced in the next title so that players can capture memorable shots across the GTA 6 map.
4) Bigger lobbies
Although Grand Theft Auto Online is considered one of the most popular multiplayer games of recent times, its lobbies max out at 30 players. X user Chris King (X/@artychris) stated that GTA Online 2 should have bigger lobbies.
They added that if Grand Theft Auto 6 comes with a larger map, the player count of online lobbies should be increased to 50, 60, or 100. While the exact map size is currently unknown, fans are awaiting the GTA 6 trailer 2 for more details.
5) Dedicated servers
The lack of dedicated servers is surprising in Grand Theft Auto Online. Now, fans want Rockstar Games to rectify this by adding dedicated servers in GTA Online 2. X user itsmejack.bsky.social (X/@itsmejacktv) said that peer-to-peer connection is not suitable for such massive games.
Dedicated servers are also among the highly-requested features for Grand Theft Auto Online. The studio should consider this request and add it to the upcoming game.
