Rockstar Games is set to release the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 next month, and fans are hoping that it shows off some of its features. While the sequel is expected to have new and advanced gameplay mechanics, gamers want to revisit some of the series' forgotten features. A combination of new and old elements can help make the next entry one of the best games ever made.

This not only applies to Grand Theft Auto 6 but all future releases, as each Grand Theft Auto installment has had some stand-out attributes. With that said, let's look at five forgotten GTA features that Rockstar should bring back.

Forgotten GTA features: Vigilante missions and four more things Rockstar Games should bring back

1) Changing body shape

GTA San Andreas is one of Rockstar Games' most ambitious projects ever. The incredibly popular 2004 title packs several features that will be hard to find in many modern games. Among the most notable ones is the ability to change the protagonist's body shape, which depends on how much fast food he eats or hits the gym.

This not only affects the lead character visually but also impacts attributes like stamina. Sadly, the feature is yet to return in another Grand Theft Auto title, but fans hope it will be reintegrated in the series' next installment.

2) Vigilante missions

The exclusion of vigilante missions in GTA 5 is frowned upon by most of the series' long-term fans. Older Grand Theft Auto games did not feature an online mode, instead opting for fun gameplay elements besides story missions.

Vigilante missions are a great example of this, and they have been a part of Grand Theft Auto III, IV, Vice City, and San Andreas. They can be started by entering a police vehicle and allowing players to maintain law and order in the city.

Rockstar releases a GTA Online weekly update every Thursday and major DLCs at regular intervals, but this feature hasn't been added to the original game.

3) Various fighting styles

Players can learn a variety of fighting styles like boxing, kickboxing, and kung fu from gyms spread across the map of GTA San Andreas. Needless to say, they add a lot of depth to the game's melee combat, which is usually a neglected aspect in most Grand Theft Auto titles.

This forgotten mechanic hasn't been featured in any other entry besides Rockstar Games' 2004 release. Whether it will be brought back in Grand Theft Auto 6 remains to be seen.

4) Good Citizen Bonus

Although the setting, story, and characters are some of Grand Theft Auto Vice City's strongest assets, the game is also regarded as one of the best in the franchise due to its minute details. One of them is the Good Citizen Bonus, which is a reward for helping the police.

This mechanic gets triggered randomly, and players can participate whenever they see an NPC being chased by a cop. They are rewarded a Good Citizen Bonus if they apprehend the criminal NPC. Since the GTA 6 leaks hint at the sequel being set in Vice City, Rockstar could bring back this forgotten feature as a tribute to the 2002 release.

5) Talking with NPCs

The role of NPCs is, unfortunately, often relegated to just filling space in-game. However, they can add to the realism and authenticity. This is demonstrated quite well in GTA San Andreas, where the pedestrians react to the protagonist, allowing players to respond as they wish.

The ability to talk with NPCs is also one of the best features in Red Dead Redemption 2 and is, in fact, quite advanced. In contrast, the quality of NPCs in titles like Grand Theft Auto 5 leaves much to be desired.
