GTA Online is known to surprisingly introduce various characters from the past. GTA 3 characters are some of the most important ones in the series, as they helped shape the franchise during its early stages. Rockstar Games introduced 31 NPCs and a protagonist in the game. Although some of these characters returned in subsequent titles, it has been a long time since the community has seen them.

This article lists five characters from GTA 3 that Rockstar should consider reintroducing in GTA Online.

Note: This article is subjective and only reflects the writer’s opinions. The listing is not in any order.

5 GTA 3 characters that Rockstar Games should bring back in GTA Online

1) Claude

Claude is the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto 3 and is already present as one of the parents when you edit your character in GTA Online. Therefore, Rockstar Games should bring him back in full flesh and introduce him as a new character in the multiplayer game.

It is worth noting that the popular Grand Theft Auto protagonist almost disappeared from the series after San Andreas until 2013. Fans would love to see his return in the HD Universe.

2) Donald Love

Donald Love appeared in three Grand Theft Auto games: Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and Liberty City Stories. However, there is a little detail in Grand Theft Auto 5 that denotes his presence in the HD Universe. In GTA Online, you can find an engraved star of his name in Vinewood Walk of Fame.

Since Rockstar Games already confirmed his presence in the HD Universe as a TV personality, he should return to GTA Online in the future. In the series, Donald Love is an interesting character who has done various mind-boggling things.

3) Phil Cassidy

Phil Cassidy is one of the most loved characters in the Grand Theft Auto franchise and is known for dealing with arms (no pun intended). He is a fun character who does crazy things with various weapons. His last appearance was in Grand Theft Auto 3 (as per the timeline) where he lost his left arm. Fans would love to meet this character in GTA Online after so many years.

Phil Cassidy has a strong connection with the military and is known for providing various military-grade weapons to Grand Theft Auto protagonists. Online players could also benefit from his presence as they require powerful weapons every day.

4) Sam Houser

The current president of Rockstar Games and the godfather of the Grand Theft Auto series, Sam Houser, appeared in the 2001 title. This is an intriguing GTA 3 fact that many fans might not know. The in-game character also has the same name as in real life. You can find him in all Ammu-Nation stores wearing a blue tracksuit that reads ROCK STAR.

Since he is a special character, there is no need for him to comply with the rules of different Grand Theft Auto universes. Rockstar Games should consider adding him to GTA Online as a throwback and a fun little Easter egg.

5) Darkel

Darkel was supposed to be one of the main characters in Grand Theft Auto 3 before Rockstar Games removed him from the final version of the game. Since he never debuted in the 3D Universe, he can freely appear in the HD Universe without any proper background explanation.

All major updates in the multiplayer game, including the most recent GTA Online summer DLC, introduce various old characters. Thus, Rockstar should reconsider Darkel's return in the future.
