A new GTA 6 screenshot has been making headlines in the Grand Theft Auto community recently, and fans are divided over it. While some believe that the leaked screenshot is legit, others are saying it is fake. Nonetheless, there have been many discussions about the legitimacy of the in-game image, and fans have started to examine its details.

This article lists and discusses five reasons why the alleged GTA 6 screenshot is most likely fake.

Note: This article is subjective and only reflects the writer’s opinions.

5 reasons why the GTA 6 screenshot could be fake

1) Questionable leak source

Each fake Grand Theft Auto leak comes with a questionable source, and the alleged GTA 6 screenshot is no exception. According to various sources, the image was recorded and leaked by one of the janitors at Rockstar Games’ San Diego studio. The story further stated that the video was recorded in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The video showed no other persons inside the studio during the day, with a monitor showing the screenshot in question. It goes without saying that such projects are developed under high surveillance. If something had happened in 2021, the security cameras would have easily detected the culprit long ago

2) Rockstar has yet to confirm it

The September 2022 Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks were acknowledged by Rockstar confirming its authenticity. However, the American gaming studio has yet to comment on anything related to the new alleged GTA 6 screenshot.

Hence, until we get official news from Rockstar or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, we cannot deem the leaks true. The studio has remained silent about the upcoming game since December 2023.

If Rockstar does not say anything about the screenshot in the future as well, we will have to consider it as fake.

3) There have been many fake leaks recently

Similar to the most recent GTA 6 leaked screenshot, a short clip claiming to be from the upcoming game surfaced on the internet in mid-December 2024. Later, the person who made the video admitted that it was not legit and that they made it using Unreal Engine 5.

It is worth noting that many fans fall for the video similar to the alleged GTA 6 screenshot. Therefore, readers are advised not to trust random images and videos until they are acknowledged by Rockstar Games.

4) The studio has increased its security

The September 2022 Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks were a big blow to Rockstar. After managing to secretly work on the game for years, the leaker disclosed many of its unfinished gameplay clips along with other assets. Immediately after that, the studio tightened its security to prevent further breaches.

Rockstar is one of the best secret keepers, and considering it is currently operating with strict security measures, it is highly unlikely that another leak could happen. Therefore, the GTA 6 screenshot is most likely fake and fan-made.

5) Some fans do crazy things to get attention

There is no doubt that Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most talked-about topics worldwide. As a result, in the past, some people were seen using its popularity for personal gains. People shared fake audio, images, videos, and many other things.

The alleged GTA 6 screenshot could be a part of such a thing. The community was highly anticipating something from the studio in December 2023. Since it did not happen, fans are upset and can be tricked into believing in false claims.
