The GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition has been in the news for various reasons. While the title had a very rough start, Rockstar Games gradually ironed out many of the underlying issues. Just a few weeks ago, the studio released another update for the game that surprised the player base. The game also saw a surge of returning players after the update.

This article lists five reasons why you should give the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition another try after the recent update.

5 things that make GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition worth a retry

1) Most of the bugs have been fixed

One of the main reasons why many players returned to GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition after the update is that Rockstar ironed out many of the known issues that had bugged players for a long time. One prominent example is the absence of the collision effect on various surfaces.

This led to several game-breaking bugs like players passing through or falling off seemingly hard surfaces and dying. Another notable change is the improvement in gunplay and how the characters operate them. While there are still some things to be fixed, the game is now worth retrying.

2) Classic Lighting feature

The Classic Lighting feature, which was once exclusive to the GTA Trilogy Netflix version, has now finally arrived in the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition PC and console versions. This feature completely changes the looks of the make, making it more appealing.

Earlier, several fans complained that the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition felt nothing like the original version in terms of visuals. However, you can now change that and toggle between the lighting modes. If you haven’t played the game with the new Classic Lighting feature, we suggest you try it ASAP.

3) Can be played in higher resolutions

The aforementioned Classic Lighting feature looks even better with high-resolution graphics. While you can already play the game in up to 4K resolution with a 60-frame-per-second refresh rate, the gameplay experience was improved by the latest GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition update.

Rockstar seemingly reworked the character models and made them resemble their original counterparts. Now, Claude, Thomas “Tommy” Vercetti, and Carl “CJ” Johnson look more familiar than before. If you have a high-end PC or the latest consoles, you should definitely try the game post-update.

4) Can be played with modern settings

The original version of the GTA Trilogy was released in 2005 and the controls (especially on consoles) were very choppy. Most new-age gamers do not prefer the old control settings as they are considerably hard to get used to. However, Rockstar has now added the option to toggle between the old and new control layouts.

Moreover, the updated Patch Notes mentioned that the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition has the following new modern settings:

  • Ability to pause cutscenes.
  • Manual save files will have the date and time stamps.

You also get a weapon wheel, auto aim, GPS navigation, a bigger pause menu map overview, and other such features. These certainly make the game worth trying after the latest update.

5) To be prepared for Grand Theft Auto 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to have numerous Easter eggs and references from GTA Vice City. Since the latter is a part of the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition, you should explore every nook and corner of it before moving to GTA 6.

The Definitive Edition of the 2002 title has better graphics and controls. Moreover, Rockstar has ironed out several issues and you should try it after the update. This way you will be able to instantly recognize the references in the upcoming game.
