GTA San Andreas is often regarded as one of the best games from the Grand Theft Auto series. It's also earned its place as one of the best video games ever made and broke several sales records. With brilliant voice acting and a stellar storyline inspired by highly-rated movies, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas should get a movie adaptation of its own.
Although Rockstar is unlikely to make a Grand Theft Auto movie anytime soon, one can always speculate a 'what if' scenario. In light of that, we've come up with five reasons that prove why GTA San Andreas deserves to be turned into a movie.

Why GTA San Andreas should have a movie adaptation
1) An original movie-like story
GTA San Andreas very much resembles a 90s hood drama like Menace II Society (1993) and Boyz n the Hood (1991), but its story is quite original. In fact, Rockstar was heavily influenced by the former movie, with several scenes and characters being depicted in the game. However, San Andreas has a unique story that doesn't just take place in Los Angeles (Los Santos).
It takes you across San Francisco (San Fierro), Las Vegas (Las Venturas), and the SoCal countryside as well. To top this off, some missions seem like they're out of some sci-fi flick, whereas others are inspired by heist movies like Ocean's Eleven (2001).

2) Some of the best characters in the series
There's no doubt that GTA San Andreas has some of the most memorable characters in the entire franchise. Whether it's the protagonist CJ and his Grove Street homies (Sweet, Ryder, Big Smoke), the antagonists (Officers Tenpenny and Pulaski), or even the supporting characters (Cesar, Mike Toreno, The Truth, and more), everyone is unique and easy to remember.
Bringing these characters back for a movie adaptation would naturally get the fanbase excited, and, if executed well, it could be an easy hit at the box office.
3) Still remains a fan-favorite
The Grand Theft Auto fanbase has divisive opinions on many of the games from the series, like GTA 3 or 5. However, San Andreas is something that unites them all, as there are very few flaws to find here. This is the most feature-rich title in the franchise, with a likable story and an interesting cast of characters. San Andreas remains the best-selling game on the PS2 to date, as it managed to hit the full potential of the console.
Even to this day, fans of the series keep going back to this game, and there's even a massive collection of mods for San Andreas that increase its replayability.
4) Nostalgic trip
GTA San Andreas takes place in the 90s, and as such, a movie adaptation wouldn't work if it didn't go back to this period. This would obviously serve as a nostalgic trip for many, and Rockstar would have to nail the look and feel of the era.
The clothing, music, and culture have to depict Los Angeles in 1992 accurately for the story to have any impact. This would also serve as a throwback to movies like Menace II Society and Boyz n the Hood.

5) Could be an excuse to cast the original voice actors
GTA San Andreas had some exceptional and memorable voice acting, and the game is often remembered by the fanbase for some of the best dialogues in the series. The main characters like CJ (Young Maylay), Sweet (Faizon Love), and Big Smoke (Clifton Powell) are obviously some of the best, but San Andreas didn't disappoint with the side characters either.
The cast also managed to include several celebrities like MC Eiht (Ryder), Samuel L. Jackson (Officer Tenpenny), Ice-T (Mad Dogg), Peter Fonda (The Truth), Chris Penn (Officer Pulasky), and Charlie Murphy (Jizzy B). While many of the original cast have passed away, Rockstar could bring back some of them for a movie adaptation.
