GTA San Andreas and the other two Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition games were added to Netflix in December 2023. These titles are also available on various other platforms such as PC and consoles (both last-gen and current-gen).

However, subscribing to Netflix is arguably the best way to experience this version of the Rockstar Games titles. This especially applies to San Andreas as its Netflix version has a minor, albeit highly significant, difference from its PC and console variants.

So, let's take a look at five reasons why GTA San Andreas is worth subscribing to Netflix.

Classic Lighting and more reasons why GTA San Andreas is worth subscribing to Netflix for

1) Available at no additional cost

As mentioned earlier, all three GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition titles have been added to Netflix. However, it should be noted that the streaming platform's subscribers can access these games (including GTA San Andreas) at no additional cost while their subscription lasts.

Although the non-Netflix classic and Definitive Edition versions of these titles are available on official Android and iOS app stores, players will have to pay for them individually. However, by subscribing to Netflix, you will get access to San Andreas, along with GTA 3 and Vice City Definitive Editions, for free.

2) Modern visual effects

Since Netflix features GTA San Andreas' Definitive Edition, which is the official remaster, it allows users to play the classic 2004 title with modern visual effects. Though not perfect, it is a rendition that is worth experiencing at least once.

Additionally, the Netflix version of San Andreas is a great option for those who have never played the original title and prefer rather realistic visual effects and graphics in their games.

3) Classic Lighting

The PC and console versions of GTA Trilogy's Definitive Edition were riddled with bugs and glitches at launch. Their current state is much better, but they are far from being perfect. Lighting is one area where the remasters failed to live up to the originals, mainly in the case of GTA San Andreas.

The signature orange hues from the classic title are missing in its PC and console remaster. However, the Netflix version's Classic Lighting option brings back that effect to a great degree, as can be seen in the video above. Therefore, to play this title, it is better to subscribe to Netflix rather than buying the game's PC or console version.

4) Available on the go

The availability of GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition's mobile version on Netflix allows users to experience the beloved 2004 title on the go. They will no longer have to be confined to one place, which is the case with PC and console titles.

Although from a pure gameplay aspect, a keyboard and mouse combination or a PlayStation or Xbox controller is much more convenient, the option to take the game anywhere with you is a great bonus.

5) One of the best Grand Theft Auto games ever

Despite having been released almost two decades ago, GTA San Andreas remains one of the best games in the Grand Theft Auto series. It was clearly ahead of its time, featuring several in-depth gameplay mechanics, like the food and weight system, various fighting styles, a lively open-world map with three major cities, and more. Its story and characters have also stood the test of time.

So, if you are bored of GTA Online and want something refreshing while waiting for GTA 6's release, GTA San Andreas is one of the best options, and it can played for free by just subscribing to Netflix.
