DLCs are one of the most exciting aspects of GTA Online gameplay, and Rockstar Games has been providing them for over a decade. While the Los Santos Drug Wars DLC disappointed many fans and made them skeptical about the future of Grand Theft Auto Online, others are still waiting for more gameplay content from Rockstar Games. As the middle of 2023 approaches, fans are excited for another major update from the gaming studio.
While Rockstar has yet to reveal anything about the DLC or confirm its existence officially, fans are preparing for the usual summer update, which takes place between June and July. This article briefly explains five reasons why another GTA Online Summer DLC update in 2023 is possible.

Five reasons why players should get ready for a new GTA Online Summer DLC in 2023
1) Take-Two Interactive confirmed new DLCs
The first and most obvious reason to be excited about the GTA Online Summer DLC is that Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, confirmed the news. During the parent company's Q3 earnings call in February 2023, Karl Slatoff, Take-Two Interactive's current President, stated:
“Throughout the balance of the fiscal year, Rockstar Games will continue to support Grand Theft Auto Online with additional content updates.”
This means that players can expect at least two years' worth of updates for the multiplayer game shortly. Although the President did not specify a support end date, many players believe it will be until the release of the next title.
2) Rockstar Games has a Halloween surprise for players
While Take-Two Interactive has already confirmed future DLCs, Scott Butchard, Rockstar North's design director, has previously revealed:
“We take inspiration from comments on forums or videos and screenshots players have taken of things they’ve done in-game… There’s a fun example of this that’s coming for this year’s Halloween event that makes me laugh every time…”
As we all know, Rockstar Games incorporates all upcoming gameplay elements into major updates that occur twice a year. GTA Online has yet to receive a significant update in 2023. If the developers have to release a Halloween event, it must be included in the upcoming summer DLC, thereby confirming its possibility.
3) Los Santos Drug Wars DLC has many unanswered questions
The GTA Online: Los Santos Drug Wars DLC, released in December 2022, has many loose ends that were not addressed even in The Last Dose update. Rockstar Games brought back Dr. Isaiah Friedlander without explanation. His fate was also unknown at the end, leaving many questions in the players' minds.
The community is expecting some answers from Rockstar in the next DLC, particularly regarding Friedlander's whereabouts before and after the events of the previous update.
4) GTA 6 could be revealed in Grand Theft Auto Online
The GTA 6 teaser is one of the most anticipated things in the gaming community, and insiders have previously indicated that it could happen through the multiplayer game. Tez2 (Twitter/@TezFunz2), a Rockstar insider, stated that the studio might tease the upcoming game later this year.
As previously stated, anything new to the game must be included in major updates, and GTA Online's summer DLC has all possibilities to add these things to the game. However, players must rely on official sources for any confirmed information.
5) Michael De Santa is yet to debut in the multiplayer game
While Trevor Philips and Franklin Clinton have already made their multiplayer debuts, Rockstar has yet to include Michael De Santa in GTA Online. Fans have been asking for a Michale DLC for years now, and the upcoming summer update can potentially add the character to the game.
Although neither Rockstar nor Ned Luke has mentioned it, considering the game's lifespan and current state, the studio should add the character as soon as possible. Surprisingly, many unfinished elements associated with a Michael DLC can still be found in the game.
