Heists are one of the most thrilling activities in GTA Online, and players play through them frequently to make money. Rockstar Games offers eight different heists in the game, with action-packed missions and lucrative rewards. It goes without saying that the heists are not for beginners as they require some level of experience and understanding. However, even veterans might end up making a few mistakes they should definitely avoid.

This article lists five rookie mistakes that all GTA Online players should try to avoid while playing heists.

5 silly mistakes that GTA Online players should avoid during heist missions

1) Hiring random players

Seven of the heists in GTA Online require you to hire one or more players to start the missions. While most might prefer going solo in GTA Online, you have no option but to group up for heists. Therefore, every player should make a few reliable in-game friends to play these heists with.

Doing heists with random GTA players can be extremely stressful, especially if they are inexperienced. You might progress through an extremely tough area just for a random to make a mistake, sending everyone back to the lobby. Hence, you should make friends with a handful of players and occasionally play random missions with them to know their skills.

2) Lack of communication

Doing heists without any communication is one of the things you should avoid in GTA Online. Heists have elaborate and long missions, where a single mistake can prove to be costly. Therefore every member of the crew should have proper communication with each other so that the mission objectives can be completed without any difficulties.

While voice communication is the best option when doing a heist, you can also use the in-game chat system. The latter is a bit slower but still does the job. If a crew plays a heist without communicating with each other, there is a high chance that their actions will be unsynchronized, leading to repeated failures.

3) Going in without proper supplies

If you are going to do a heist mission in Grand Theft Auto Online, you should walk in fully prepared with all the essential supplies. These include weapons, ammo, snacks, and body armor. Lacking any one of them can cause difficulties mid-mission, especially during intense fight sequences.

Moreover, there are several overpowered weapons in GTA Online that can kill you within seconds. Therefore, it is always recommended to check your supplies before every mission and refill if necessary. The Agency (along with the Armory installation) is the best location to acquire all these things at once.

4) Speedrunning the missions

Speedrunning the heist missions in Grand Theft Auto Online is never a good idea. Unlike the story mode missions, the multiplayer version does not allow you to experiment too much. Therefore, they have a high chance of failing if you go out of bounds.

Moreover, some heist missions are notorious for having only a few checkpoints. As a result, if you fail in the middle, all your progress will go to waste. Therefore, whether you play the heists to celebrate New Year’s Day in GTA Online or just for fun, you should not rush the missions.

5) Not sharing the rewards properly

Heists in GTA Online require you to split the reward money with the crew. The lowest and default cut is 15%. However, hosts are advised to pay their crew members fairly. If you give poor payouts, members may leave or lose the motivation to work hard during the missions.

Therefore, you should always discuss the split percentage with your crew members before starting the heist and give them fair payouts. If it is a four-player heist, doing the 40-20-20-20 split is the ideal thing.
