A new GTA Online weekly update kicked off on January 9, 2025, and it will remain active through January 15, 2025. As is the case with every weekly update, Rockstar Games has discounted certain items, such as vehicles and weapons. Although these offers help in saving a decent amount of money, not every discounted item is worth getting in the multiplayer.
Some beginners, or even intermediates, may require a bit of assistance in such situations. So, this article will list five things that players should avoid buying in GTA Online from January 10 through 15, 2025.

Compact EMP Launcher and four other things to avoid buying in GTA Online (January 10-15, 2025)
1) Benefactor XLS
Benefactor XLS is one of the cars that was removed in 2023. However, it is back in the game for this GTA Online weekly update only with a 50% discount on its $253,000 base price. This may make it seem affordable, but it is not exactly worth getting.
The SUV has decent looks, barely any visual customization options, and a very average top speed. Furthermore, Benefactor XLS is incompatible with any useful upgrades, such as HSW, Imani Tech, or Armor Plating.
2) Coil Raiden
Coil Raiden is another removed GTA Online vehicle that will be on sale through January 15, 2025. The electric sports car is available at a 30% discount on its $1,375,000 base price, but again, doesn't offer much.
It, too, is incompatible with any significant upgrades and doesn't have much room for customization. While Raiden looks good, likely based on the Tesla Model S, and boasts quick acceleration, these two factors alone aren't enough to justify a near million-dollar investment.
3) Compact EMP Launcher
The Compact EMP Launcher is quite an interesting weapon in theory. It shoots projectiles that can shut down vehicles temporarily on impact. Unfortunately, hitting targets with it, especially mobile ones, is a bit challenging.
Additionally, it is much better to just use an explosive weapon to destroy your adversary's vehicle rather than shutting it off for a few seconds. Its base price of $525,000 has been discounted by 30% at the GTA Online Gun Van this week, but that is still too much for a non-lethal weapon.
Instead of the Compact EMP Launcher, players should consider getting the El Strickler Military Rifle (only available for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users) from the Gun Van instead.
4) Declasse Impaler LX
Declasse Impaler LX is a vintage Muscle Car that resembles a sixth-generation Chevrolet Impala. It has a decent top speed and customizability, but is quite expensive at $1,465,000. It is also incompatible with HSW, Imani Tech, or Armor Plating upgrades, much like other cars on this list.
Needless to say, Impaler LX doesn't seem worth buying. However, Rockstar has made it the Diamond Casino Podium Vehicle through January 15. Those interested should try getting it for free from there instead. The money saved can be put toward the Vapid Firebolt ASP, a brand-new off-road car, compatible with HSW upgrades, and the Missile Lock-On Jammer.
5) Vapid Caracara 4X4
Vapid Caracara 4x4 is also an off-roader, in fact, it is one of the best off-road vehicles in GTA Online. Its top speed is average, but there is decent customizability and compatibility with the Missile Lock-On Jammer. Caracara 4x4 costs $875,000; which also isn't a very hefty price tag.
That said, the reason one should avoid buying it this week is because it can be won for free as the LS Car Meet Prize Ride through January 15, 2025. For this, one must finish within the top three in an LS Car Meet Series race for two days in a row.
