The latest big GTA Online update as of this writing is Agents of Sabotage, released on December 10, 2024. While it hasn't been officially announced yet, Rockstar Games is expected to release at least one more in 2025, likely in the summer like every year so far. This might also be the title's final big update before Grand Theft Auto 6 releases during Fall 2025.

Needless to say, we have no idea about what could be featured in a future DLC at the moment, but there are a few things that Rockstar could consider adding. So, here are 5 things that we want to see in the next big GTA Online update in 2025.

More returning cars and 4 other things we want to see in the next big GTA Online update 2025

1) A new major heist

Heists are among the biggest attractions of Grand Theft Auto Online, and Rockstar Games has added quite a few of them over the years. However, the last big heist — The Cayo Perico Heist — was added way back in December 2020.

Since then, we have only gotten heist-like missions such as the FIB Files and Salvage Yard Vehicle Robberies, but they don't match a typical heist's payout. The Cluckin Bell Farm Raid, added in early 2024, is also like a heist but doesn't exactly match up in scale. Therefore, one of the things that should be added in a big 2025 update is a new major heist.

2) More fast travel points

GTA Online Agents of Sabotage made the Darnell Bros Garment Factory a purchasable property. What's really interesting about this property is that it allows players to fast travel to certain points in Los Santos. This can be done from the Garment Factory's basement, and players can travel back to the factory from those fast travel points as well.

It may not always seem necessary but is a pretty handy feature, and Rockstar Games should consider adding a few more of these fast travel points in a future update.

3) More returning cars

Nearly 200 cars were removed from in-game websites with the San Andreas Mercenaries update in 2023, which was a highly unpopular decision among players. These cars were occasionally made available during weekly updates before quite a few of them were added back with GTA Online Agents of Sabotage.

Given how disappointed fans were with the removal of so many vehicles, Rockstar should add even more of them back to the title with the next big update in 2025.

4) Some sort of Grand Theft Auto 6 teaser

As mentioned earlier, Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for a Fall 2025 release. So, if Rockstar drops a big GTA Online update around the summer of next year, then it would possibly be the last major DLC before the sequel's release.

The excitement around Grand Theft Auto 6 is incredibly high, and it would be really interesting to see some sort of a teaser for it in the next Grand Theft Auto Online update. It doesn't have to be anything huge, even a subtle nod toward Vice City, Leonida, or the protagonists would work.

5) Michael De Santa

The only one out of the three Grand Theft Auto 5 story mode protagonists yet to appear in GTA Online is Michael De Santa. He is very popular among fans, and many of them hope for his inclusion whenever a new update is announced. However, the character has eluded the multiplayer so far.

Nevertheless, with Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon, one of the best things that the next possible big GTA Online update can do is feature Michael De Santa in some capacity, perhaps like Franklin Clinton in the Celebrity Solutions Agency.

Readers are once again reminded that these things are NOT confirmed to be added in the next update, which itself is yet to be announced.
