While Rockstar Games has yet to announce GTA 6 Online, fans already have quite a few expectations, and the developers can achieve this in various ways. While the graphics will most definitely be upgraded, players look forward to new and improved skills and gameplay mechanics.
GTA 5 Online is quite fun and offers tons of content, but it's littered with redundant features and undesirable bugs, souring the experience for many. Hence, players want Rockstar Games to ensure such things don't carry over to the upcoming title.
This article speculates how GTA 6 Online could differ from the current multiplayer.

5 ways GTA 6 Online could be different from GTA 5 Online
1) More variety in businesses
GTA 5 Online has quite a few businesses that allow players to earn money, but the things one can do are limited. The businesses are also quite similar at their root and become monotonous later on.
GTA 6 Online could solve this by offering more variety. Players might get the option to merge two of their existing businesses and create something completely different, opening a world of possibilities.
2) Integrated role-playing
While GTA 5 Online lets you create your own character and head out into the world, the role-playing options are severely limited. You need to use third-party options if you want a heavy role-playing experience in the game. Players have demanded Rockstar Games integrate this feature in GTA 6's multiplayer mode when it rolls out.
Such a change would improve the overall experience more than the current GTA 5 Online. Players also won't need to search for outside lobbies and role-playing servers to enjoy the game. Integrating this feature would allow players to experience the game in a new light after completing the story missions.
3) Introducing new activities
GTA 5 Online has various side missions and activities like Stunt Jumps, Races, and Adversary Modes that they can join. However, the options are limited, and most of them have a limited player count due to lack of popularity. Naturally, players want GTA 6 Online to feature a myriad of side activities.
This could include sports like basketball and tennis or bring back fan-favorite activities like Vigilante or Paramedic from the past games. This would set GTA 6 Online apart from the current online multiplayer mode and give players a wide range of choices. Having several options at your disposal would ultimately make the multiplayer mode more fun.
4) Improved cop and other NPC AI
The NPC AI in GTA 5 Online is an improvement over the past title but feels outdated in 2024. You get a wanted star for the smallest crime and cops spawn out of thin air to take you down. The game also has overpowered NPCs with incredible aim who become extremely annoying when completing important missions.
Rockstar Games should improve these aspects and provide a more streamlined experience in GTA 6 Online. One of the upcoming title's gameplay leaks showcases amazing police AI, giving the fandom hope. Having more realistic features like RDR 2 in GTA 6 and its multiplayer mode would be incredible.
5) Realistic vehicle features
GTA 6 Online could also differentiate itself from GTA 5 Online by sporting realistic vehicle characteristics and features. Rumors circulated that the game might have a refueling system for cars on top of a more realistic driving mechanism.
The game could also offer much more intricate customization options, allowing players to swap out parts and craft a vehicle of their own choice.
