Weapons have always been an integral part of Grand Theft Auto games, and the anticipation for what GTA 6 will bring in this area is high. Although not much has been officially revealed, the first trailer gave us a glimpse of protagonist Lucia and her partner wielding pistols. Leaked development footage hints at more weaponry, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
As we eagerly await more information on the subject, let's take a look at five weapons we'd love to see in Grand Theft Auto 6.
Note - None of the weapons listed below have been confirmed for GTA 6. This article is subjective and solely reflects the writer's opinions.
Flamethrower and 4 other weapons that we'd like to see in GTA 6
1) El Strickler Military Rifle
The El Strickler Military Rifle is an Assault Rifle in GTA Online that debuted in December 2024 with the Agents of Sabotage update. Despite its recent introduction, it has emerged as one of the best weapons in its class.
The El Strickler Military Rifle deals high damage and fires blue tracer rounds, which makes it stand out, at a quick rate. Its design is also unique, and Rockstar should consider adding it to Grand Theft Auto 6, perhaps as a reward for completing some sort of secret quest.
2) Lasso
While a lasso might not fit the conventional definition of a weapon like guns or explosives, Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption series, especially Red Dead Redemption 2, has demonstrated its potential; it can be used to capture NPCs and animals from a distance.
Having a lasso in a Grand Theft Auto setting, such as GTA 6, would allow players to approach certain scenarios and missions very differently. Additionally, it could add a fun element to multiplayer modes and provide a new way to mess around with NPCs.
3) Flamethrower
The Flamethrower can be used to cause plenty of chaos. It has been a staple in several classic Grand Theft Auto games, including GTA 3, Vice City, Vice City Stories, Liberty City Stories, and San Andreas.
However, for some reason, the Flamethrower is absent from Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5. With Vice City making a return to the GTA 6 map, it seems like the perfect opportunity to reintroduce the Flamethrower, perhaps as a nostalgic nod to the beloved 2002 title.
4) Crossbow
Grand Theft Auto games are known for their action-packed missions, but some players prefer a stealthier approach. Weapon silencers can help with this strategy, but a crossbow would bring an even more intriguing dimension to stealth gameplay.
This weapon can launch arrows quietly, so it is an excellent choice for taking out enemies discreetly. A traditional bow and arrow setup could also work, but a crossbow, being more advanced and mechanized, would better suit the modern-day setting of GTA 6.
5) Throwing knives
Knives have been included in Grand Theft Auto games as melee weapons before. However, they require close proximity to use.
Introducing throwing knives would add a new range element to this dynamic. They could serve as effective stealth weapons, providing a fresh combat option. Whether Rockstar will include throwing knives in GTA 6 remains to be seen, but it would be an exciting addition to the franchise.
