Rockstar Games has been selling GTA 5 since 2013. You can play the game on PlayStation and Xbox Consoles, and there is also a Grand Theft Auto 5 PC version. Despite having no single-player expansions, fans continue to spend hours on the open-world game. Recently, a Redditor named Stanced_69 (u/Old-Assist5200) asked the r/GTA community how much time they had spent playing the game:

Where one user named 720-187 (u/720-187) commented:

“9413 hours on Steam, most of which was in singleplayer messing around with mods. probably 2k hrs in online.”

Another Redditor named ImNotAFrog23 (u/ImNotAFrog23) replied to u/720-187 as:

“DarkviperAU levels of nolifery”

It is worth noting that DarkViperAU is a popular Grand Theft Auto YouTuber who has a record of spending over 10,000 hours in GTA 5 Story Mode. They also use Grand Theft Auto 5 PC mods for streaming, which increases the replayability even more.

A user named mrtookyourgirl69 (u/mrtookyourgirl69) shared their recorded timings from various platforms:

“About 400 in GTA story mode and online (on Steam, I also played on PS3 and PS4) and then 3000 hours in FiveM. I think in reality about 5k hours through all of GTA 5’s life.”

Many others also shared their playtime for the popular 2013 title:

One Redditor named Fact-Adept (u/Fact-Adept) commented that they prefer the Story Mode over online multiplayer:

“I really like story mode but online not so much, not because of the game but because of all sh*tkids blowing you up every other minute. Lots of content looks really fun on GTAV online, almost like DLC…”

Readers should note that while the DLC content is limited to GTA 5 Online mode, they can still find many great cars in Grand Theft Auto 5 Story Mode.

Moreover, the world of the single-player mode is more lively and packed with population compared to the online multiplayer. It will be interesting to see how Rockstar Games crafts the world of GTA 6.

Will you be able to transfer GTA 5 Online’s progress to GTA 6 after its release?

While Rockstar Games hasn’t shared any official words on this, the most likely answer is no. Despite sharing the same HD Universe, the upcoming game is more advanced in all aspects and makes GTA 5 look like a relic of the past.

Although many fans want Grand Theft Auto 6 to support Grand Theft Auto 5 Online’s progression, the studio may discard this idea and require everyone to start their journey in the new Vice City from the beginning.
