Rockstar Games has been strictly moderating chats and conversations since the GTA Online Chop Shop update, and it has seemingly gotten a little too stern. Recently, a Redditor named u/SauloTheMan shared a screenshot on the r/gtaonline subreddit demonstrating how ridiculously strict the chat moderation system has become. Sharing the incident they wrote:
“Can't even have a conversation anymore”
As per the screenshot, the Redditor typed the following phrases to the PC chat feature:
- Splash it
- Scoped out
- Something is off
- Amusement park
However, the chat moderation censored various parts of the texts. This caught the attention of GTA Online fans and many stated that the Grand Theft Auto series should not resort to such policies considering the gameplay consists of many vulgar acts.
One Redditor named u/ArcherGod explained a possible reason for the censorship:
Many users stated that GTA Online is a ‘Mature’ rated game and should not do such things.
Some players also pointed out that the NPCs in GTA Online use slurs all the time.
Players even stated that GTA Online is slowly becoming like Roblox.
These reactions clearly show that players are not happy with the current chat moderation techniques of Rockstar Games. Frequent violations of these policies can also get you banned from the game. Some also expressed their concern for the GTA 6 gameplay with such policies.
It is worth noting that a Bloomberg report from July 2022 disclosed that Rockstar Games would introduce various changes in the upcoming game, that will make it less offensive compared to the currently released titles. As a result, some veteran fans are concerned that the series will lose its signature style with such censorship.
Can you play GTA Online solo in 2024?
Yes. Since July 2022, Rockstar Games has allowed all players to enjoy the game in solo mode. The Invite Only lobbies now support all kinds of business operations and missions. You can also grind money in GTA Online in these lobbies without interacting with other players.
Another thing to note is that most of the recent businesses and missions support solo mode. Therefore, it has become easier for players to enjoy the game in peace. However, a few of the older missions, especially the heists still require two or more players to start.
Therefore, while you can enjoy the entire game solo in Invite Only lobbies, it is also important to make some friends for such missions.
