The GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide will help you conquer one of the most difficult trophies the popular title has to offer. Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto 3 in 2001 kickstarting the 3D Universe of the franchise. It was originally released on the PlayStation 2 and is currently playable on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and some other gaming platforms. New gamers should note that they cannot buy the 2001 version of the title, as it was replaced by the remastered Definitive Edition in 2021.

The GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide applies to all the PlayStation generations. Since the game is quite old, the number of trophies is relatively low. But, you will surely have to grind to unlock the Platinum trophy, as is one of the most valued rewards not only in Grand Theft Auto 3 but in any video game.

Note: Some parts of this GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide are subjective and only reflect the writer’s opinions.

The trophies in Grand Theft Auto 3 are divided into four main categories. They are as follows:

  • Platinum: One
  • Gold: Five
  • Silver: 12
  • Bronze: 11

Grand Theft Auto series fans should note that all of these are offline trophies that can be unlocked solo. Grand Theft Auto 3 was planned to have a multiplayer mode in 2001. But, it was scrapped from the final release. Therefore, all 29 trophies need to be unlocked in the story mode. However, you need to keep your game and console connected to the internet, or your progress will not be saved.

To unlock all the trophies in Grand Theft Auto 3, you must achieve 100 percent completion in the game. For this, you have to complete all story missions, side missions, collectibles, and various miscellaneous activities. GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide readers should be aware that simply completing a task for once is not enough, as some trophies require you to grind their related tasks repeatedly.

While the Grand Theft Auto 3 speedrun guide can come in handy in certain situations, players are advised not to rush the game, as they can miss some trophies. The following are all the trophies in the 2001 title and their unlock conditions:

Making mistakes while playing a game is not a big deal. However, trophy hunting, especially the Platinum one, is not a monkey business. Therefore, players need to be aware of some serious mistakes and avoid them at all costs. While there can be unlimited potential mistakes, the GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide would like to outline the following ones:

Do not speedrun the Grand Theft Auto 3 Platinum trophy hunt. The main goal of speedrunning is to reach from the first mission to the last story mission as soon as possible. The process often involves skipping through various missions in the middle that are not important for the main narrative. You may have noticed in the GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide above that Rockstar Games linked some trophies to missions. If you skip through them, the trophies will not be unlocked and you will have to restart the game again.

Do not use cheat codes during the Grand Theft Auto 3 Platinum trophy hunt. Rockstar Games included 23 cheat codes in the 2001 title and they can potentially stop some trophies from unlocking. While you will be able to continue the game as usual, your reward will not be given until you do the same task without using cheat codes.

Do not trigger glitches during the Grand Theft Auto 3 Platinum trophy hunt. While glitches are fun to explore and experience, they happen when an unusual condition is run through the game codes. Keep in mind that GTA 3 was developed before 2001. So, messing with its intended gameplay functions can bar trophies from unlocking.

As mentioned before in the GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide, completing the game to 100 percent is very much necessary to unlock the Platinum trophy. But, it will take more than just to finish the main storyline. The following are the things that you need to do to complete the game 100 percent:

List 1 - Portland Harbor Docks - Emergency vehicles

  • Fire Truck
  • Police Car

  • Stallion
  • Stinger
  • Stretch
  • Taxi

Delivering all these vehicles unlocks two different trophies in Grand Theft Auto 3. If you deliver all emergency vehicles, you will be rewarded with the ‘Pest Control’ trophy. On the other hand, if you complete all three lists, you will unlock the ‘Play Fetch’ trophy.

Can you replay a mission for trophies in Grand Theft Auto 3?

The straightforward answer is no. You cannot replay a particular mission in Grand Theft Auto 3. If your game has autosave enabled, everything you do in the game will be automatically saved overriding previous save files. While Rockstar Games allows you to manually save the game using the safe houses, the number of slots for the save files is very low. Therefore, you should check out the missions list above properly and move cautiously during your trophy hunt.

Rockstar Games added the reply mission feature only in Grand Theft Auto 5. Therefore, the GTA 3 Platinum trophy guide advises you to prepare well before starting your journey.
