While there are various money-making errands in the single-player game, the rewards are very low compared to some of the jobs in Grand Theft Auto 5 Online. It may take you months to even become a millionaire if you use them normally. However, the in-game stock market works as a shortcut to reach the billionaire status sooner.

It is a hidden gem in the game that only a small portion of the player base utilizes. This GTA 5 guide will help you understand the in-game stock market and how you can manipulate it to become a billionaire in Los Santos.

Note: Some portions of this GTA 5 guide to making billions are subjective and only reflect the writer’s opinions. The article contains spoilers about the game.

To become a billionaire in the State of San Andreas by using the stock market, you first need to complete all the story missions in Grand Theft Auto 5. It is the only way through which you can make a large amount of money. While there are other errands such as taxi driving and looting armored cash trucks, the money earned from them is substantially low. Therefore, the GTA 5 guide advises you to complete the main campaign as soon as possible.

However, players must skip a few pay phone assassination missions that are not necessary for the main storyline to complete. These missions shall be utilized later to manipulate the stock market. The main reason for this delay is that the game gives all three protagonists a hefty amount of money after completing the final mission. If you invest a large sum and manipulate the market properly, you will touch the billionaire mark easily.

The GTA 5 guide also advises players not to spend money on unnecessary things until they finish the stock market process.

As mentioned before in the GTA 5 guide, if you want to make billions, you should keep the following missions for later:

  1. The Multi Target Assassination
  2. The Vice Assassination
  3. The Bus Assassination
  4. The Construction Assassination
  5. Hitch Lift 1

The assassination missions are for Franklin Clinton and unlock in a serial order after you complete The Hotel Assassination mission by Lester Crest. While doing The Hotel Assassination mission is necessary for the story to progress, the rest are not. Therefore, you should avoid the big green L marker on the map until you complete the finale (any of the Endings).

Hitch Lift 1 is a Random Event that spawns near the Ineseno Road in Banham Canyon. The GTA 5 guide advises you to save it for the last.

There are two stock exchanges in Grand Theft Auto 5, with around hundreds of total stocks. However, to become a billionaire, the GTA 5 guide advises you to trade only in the following stocks:

  1. Betta Pharmaceuticals (BET)
  2. Bilkinton Research (BIL)
  3. Merryweather (MER)
  4. Debonaire (DEB)
  5. Redwood (RWC)
  6. Fruit (FRT)
  7. Facade (FAC)
  8. Vapid (VAP)
  9. GoldCoast (GCD)
  10. Tinkle (TNK)

The two stock markets are as follows:

  • Liberty City National Exchange (LCN)
  • BAWSAQ

The GTA 5 guide will now discuss the stocks, their related missions, and how to manipulate them in a brief manner. If you want elaborate details, then we suggest you check out the Grand Theft Auto 5 Stock Market Guide.

How to make money through the Betta Pharmaceuticals (BET) and Bilkinton Research (BIL) stocks

The first manipulation of the stock markets will happen during The Hotel Assassination mission. At this time, you may not have a huge amount of money. But, whatever you save to this point will take an important role in future increments.

The following are the ways to manipulate the Betta Pharmaceuticals (BET) stock:

  1. Buy all the Betta Pharmaceuticals (BET) stocks before the mission.
  2. Complete The Hotel Assassination mission.
  3. Save the game a few times as Franklin Clinton until the stock value increases by 50%.
  4. Sell the stock.
  5. Buy all the Bilkinton Research (BIL) stocks.
  6. Save the game six to eight times as Trevor Philips until the stock value increases by 80%.
  7. Sell the stocks.

Before moving to the next stock, GTA 5 guide readers must do the following:

  1. Complete The Big Score mission.
  2. Complete the final mission by selecting Option C: Deathwish (The Third Way).
  3. Wait for Lester Crest to send you the payouts for The Big Score heist.
  4. Wait for Michael De Santa to receive an email from Donald "Don" Percival.

Steps to make money through the Merryweather (MER) stock

  1. Buy all the Merryweather (MER) stocks after the aforementioned things happen in-game.
  2. Save the game multiple times as Trevor Philips until the stock value increases by 70%.

GTA 5 guide readers should note that making money from the Merryweather (MER) stock is the riskiest and longest process in the game. You have to spend several in-game weeks saving the game as Trevor Philips. So, do not lose hope until you see the results.

Steps to make money through the Debonaire (DEB) and Redwood (RWC) stocks

  1. Buy all the Debonaire (DEB) stocks before The Multi Target Assassination mission.

Steps to make money through the Tinkle (TNK) stock

  1. Wait for the Hitch Lift 1 mission to spawn.
  2. Buy all the Tinkle (TNK) stocks before engaging in the mission.
  3. Save the game a few times as Franklin Clinton until the stock value increases by 30%.
  4. Sell the stocks.

It is worth noting that the Hitch Lift 1 - Random Event is very difficult to spawn as there is no known condition for the mission to appear. Therefore, the GTA 5 guide advises players to stay vigilant and always look for the mission marker near the Ineseno Road in Banham Canyon.

If you have done all the aforementioned steps properly till now, all three protagonists should have over a billion dollars in their bank accounts. Here are some pro tips for GTA 5 guide readers to save and make more money:

  • Do not buy cars, clothes, businesses, or other unnecessary things before the stock market grinding is finished.
  • Create separate save files during the process so that you can always go back in case of a blunder.
  • Avoid dying unnecessarily as the hospital charges $5000 every time.
  • Do not trade in any other stocks as they may not provide good returns.

As mentioned before in the GTA 5 guide, there are several ways through which you can make petty cash. These are mainly considered side missions that reward you with money. Some of the profitable activities are as follows:

  • Nuclear Waste collection
  • Bail Bond missions
  • Races
  • Taxi driver job
  • Robbing stores
  • Selling street cars

The Nuclear Waste collection mission is one of the biggest side activities that also rewards handsomely. To unlock it, you have to first purchase the Sonar Collections Dock in Paleto Cove, Blaine County. After that, all three protagonists can use the mini-sub at the dock to search for underwater nuclear waste around the state of San Andreas. There are 30 packages to collect and each one offers $23,000. Rockstar Games will also reward you with an additional $250,000 for completing the side mission.

GTA 5 guide readers are also advised to try the Bail Bond missions from Maude Eccles. There are four bounty targets to hunt. Each one rewards $10,000 if delivered alive and $5000 if you kill them in the process.

Rockstar Games included four types of races in Grand Theft Auto 5, and two of them reward you with cash. They are as follows:

  • Hao Street Races
  • Offroad Races
  • Sea Races (no monetary rewards)
  • Stock Car Racing (offers special vehicles as rewards)

The Hao Street Races pay you between $450 and $6,750, and the Offroad Races pay around $500. You should try these missions sometimes for both fun and to make money.

The rewards from the taxi driver job, robbing stores, and selling street cars are not fixed, as it depends on how long you grind. However, you can expect to make between $100 and $300 per taxi passenger, between $1000 and $3000 per store, and around $5000 per stolen car, depending on its class.

If you follow this GTA 5 guide to making billions thoroughly, all three of your characters should have plenty of money to buy everything available in the game.
