Stock Car Races unlock after GTA 5 story mode mission Mr. Phillips and can be started at any time in free mode with either of the three protagonists - Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton, or Trevor Philips. That said, Franklin is the best choice as you can use his ability during the race, making them incredibly easy.

Not all cars are eligible for these races, and if you turn up with an ineligible one, the game will ask you to return with a suitable car. That said, if your GTA 5 car is eligible, the game will prompt the required button to start the Stock Car Race as shown in the following image:

Note that all five Stock Car Races can be started from the same location. After winning one, leave the area, and the next race should be available in a few moments.

You will be rewarded the Cheval Marshall GTA 5 monster truck after winning the fifth Stock Car Race. You will be rewarded with certain other cars for the first four races as well.
