Earlier this year, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, confirmed fall 2025 as the official GTA 6 release window. The lack of any new reveals since the first trailer last year has concerned fans about a possible delay of late, but the reportedly leaked trailer of Mafia The Old Country seems to have given them some hope. This is because the trailer mentions summer 2025 as its release window.
Mafia The Old Country also comes under Take-Two Interactive's umbrella. So some, like X user @GTAVI_Countdown, believe that the title is possibly being released next summer to leave enough gap between it and Grand Theft Auto 6.
"New Mafia 4 teaser confirms it’s coming in Summer 2025 before GTA 6. This is great and indicates that Take-Two, the publisher of both games is still confident about GTA 6 coming in Fall 2025, making sure to leave enough space between them so they don’t clash."
X user @its_menieb further suggested a release order featuring Borderlands 4, another Take-Two Interactive title, along with Mafia The Old Country and Grand Theft Auto 6.
That being said, the Borderlands 4 launch is only planned for fiscal 2026 so far, although its release window has not been specified.
A few other fans like @ChitoGamingLive and @BlackBankrollX stated that no games should launch close to the upcoming GTA title next year.
However, some feel that the upcoming Mafia installment reportedly releasing next summer doesn't necessarily mean that Grand Theft Auto 6 won't get delayed.
Readers should note that Rockstar Games has not officially announced any delays regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 as of this writing.
Mafia The Old Country's reportedly leaked trailer gets GTA 6 fans talking online
The last few major Rockstar Games titles, such as Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, experienced delays. And now that it has been over a year without any new reveals since the first GTA 6 trailer was released, some fans have begun speculating about a possible delay.
Although there has been no official announcement, Mafia The Old Country's reportedly leaked trailer suggesting a summer 2025 release has given some fans hope against there likely being a delay.
Take-Two Interactive has also reiterated fall 2025 as Grand Theft Auto 6's release window in some of its earnings calls this year. Based on previous patterns, the next earnings call might be held in February 2025: thus, we may learn more about the future of the forthcoming title then, unless Rockstar Games decides to share further details before that.
