Among the many things Grand Theft Auto fans want to see return in GTA 6 is a dynamic body mechanic. Such a system would allow players to determine the level of muscle and fat the playable character has based on what he eats, how much he works out, and so on. As most veteran fans already know, this feature was present in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, but it hasn't been reused since.

There have been rumors about this dynamic body mechanic returning in GTA 6, based on what has been hinted at so far in the leaks and the trailer. In light of that, here's what you need to know about it.

GTA 6 might have a dynamic body mechanic

When the GTA 6 leaks surfaced in 2022, some fans noticed that Jason, the game's male protagonist, reportedly had separate body types in different scenes. He apparently looks a bit more muscular and athletic in one of the videos. However, this dynamic body mechanic doesn't seem to be restricted to Jason, as Lucia also looked thinner in one particular clip.

Fans have also made a list of all world events disclosed by the leaks, and this seems to include several gyms and even a wrestling ring. This could indicate that gyms are also returning in Grand Theft Auto 6, which could be tied to changing your body weight and muscle density, just like in San Andreas.

In Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the protagonist, CJ, can get fat, thin, or muscular depending on the type and frequency of food and exercise. For instance, if you eat too much junk food, the character will get fat, and this will affect his stamina and ability to climb over obstacles. If CJ is too skinny, he will have greater stamina but at the cost of lower health and strength.

Red Dead Redemption 2, the most recent AAA game from Rockstar Games, also reused this dynamic body mechanic, but in a simpler manner. Arthur can get slightly fat, which will increase his health but reduce his stamina. If he gets thinner, he will have less health but more stamina.

As GTA 6 is expected to be the most ambitious Grand Theft Auto game to date, it makes sense for Rockstar to reintroduce the dynamic body mechanic yet again. However, this is all speculation, and the leaks shouldn't be taken at face value. The muscular Jason seen in the clips could just have been an older version of Jason that has since been changed.

As seen in the trailer, both Jason and Lucia underwent some visual changes since the leaks came out. As such, it's hard to say what Rockstar will implement in the final version of the game and fans should take all speculations with a grain of salt.
