The firm that produced the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Rockstar Games, tweeted in February 2022 about development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series being underway. The development of GTA 6, like any other AAA video game title, is hindered by several issues that affect its progression and release schedule. The most notable was the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought the globe to a standstill.
When is GTA 6 coming out?
GTA 6 will be coming out sometime during Fall 2025, as revealed by Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
Rockstar announced in November 2023 that a trailer for GTA 6 would be unveiled in December 2023. That trailer confirmed 2025 as the release year for the upcoming title, albeit without any specific date or window. A few months later, Take-Two revealed during its May 2024 earnings call that GTA 6 is planned to come out during Fall 2025.

Will GTA 6 have a female protagonist as a playable character?
