"Half-a**ed update by Rockstar": GTA online players show frustration from Payphone Hits

The Chop Shop DLC and the GTA Online Bottom Dollar Bounties DLC added a fleet of new cop cars that players can purchase. These cars can be used in various missions including the Payphone Hits by Franklin Clinton. However, the game seems to not consider the purchasable cop cars as regular police vehicles.

Recently, a Redditor named u/AVGwar shared the following post where they tried to apprehend an NPC driver in the Payphone Hits: The Popstar mission.

The mission required the player to use a police car to assassinate the target. While they used the Bravado Police Gauntlet Interceptor, the target seemed not to care about the player's approach.

Seeing this, one Redditor named u/Sladolf commented:

“GTA 5 has a certain amount of police car vehicles with the correct flags. So this is another half-a**ed update by Rockstar.”

The frustration is justifiable considering the Bottom Dollar DLC fixed some old issues in GTA Online. However, Rockstar Games seemingly forgot to merge the new cop cars with the old fleet of law enforcement vehicles.

Another user named u/adamg0013 stated why the new GTA Online cop car should have worked in the Payphone Hits mission:

“Yea, that's sucks they should make it work. Cause your phantom wedge works when you have to use a semi. Your personal police car should work.”

A user named u/TheBeachBream commented that the Vapid Unmarked Cruiser works with the mission. The original poster replied that it was based on an old cop car model.

Another Redditor u/-Gir expressed their frustrations on Rockstar Games’ gameplay designs by saying:

“R* logic, makes player-owned taxis work for taxi missions but doesn't make player-owed cop cars work for that. You'd think R* would have made that work with bottom dollar but no.”

While the purchasable cop cars can be used to make money in GTA Online, many players had to give up on their bonuses due to this overlooked bug.
