While Rockstar Games continues to remain silent about any updates regarding GTA 6 — Shawn Darnell Fonteno — the voice actor behind GTA 5’s Franklin Clinton, praised the unreleased game and stated that it would be a massive hit. His exact words were as follows:
“...You gotta understand it’s GTA 6. So, it’s gonna be the new wave. And when they come, it’s gonna come. A lot of people is not going to work. It’s going to set a lot of records, man, I believe that. I will bet my buck on it that it will.”
On January 2, 2025, the popular Grand Theft Auto 5 voice actor appeared in an interview on the Fall Damage YouTube channel. He was asked various questions about his time working for the 2013 title, and also shared his thoughts on GTA 6 and stated the following:
“I just know we did a great job in GTA 5, man. With (GTA) 6, I hope it surpasses us, you know? By so far man, just a long way. Whether we are acting in it, or whether we are not acting in it.”
It is worth noting that the artist is still very active on social media platforms, attending interviews and answering fans’ queries. Hence, fans also admire him as the person behind one of their favorite video game characters. One X user named Derick Angelo (X/@jeazous) complimented Fonteno’s love for this character by saying:
“You can tell how he’s so proud of his character in GTA 5—his enthusiasm in his voice is contagious”
Many other X users also expressed their appreciation for the popular GTA artist.
While the voice actor mostly talked about the 2013 title, some also took the opportunity to ask him about the upcoming title. As is customary, many asked about the GTA 6 release date.
It is worth noting that Rockstar Games announced in December 2023 that their upcoming title would launch sometime in 2025, but they have remained silent for over a year since. Even though Take-Two Interactive narrowed the release window to fall 2025 — it is January 2025 now and fans have no clue when exactly the game will be released.
