"ITS HAPPENING": GTA 6 fans react to Rockstar's Instagram post count

Grand Theft Auto fans were expecting Rockstar Games to drop some kind of new content related to GTA 6 today, December 27, 2024. This was mainly because they had been led in that direction by some alleged hints in a recent Rockstar developer's X post.

Fans believed that these clues were references to the upcoming game and the number 27. Moreover, Rockstar has maintained a total of 27 posts on Instagram for a while, which many fans took as another supposed hint. On December 24, 2024, one of those posts was removed, only to be replaced with a Red Dead Online post to maintain the count at 27, further adding to the suspicion.

Earlier today (December 27, 2024), the company removed a post from Instagram once again, prompting fans to believe something new related to GTA 6 could be posted on social media soon. TGG, a Grand Theft Auto YouTuber tweeted about the same, with one of the comments by a fan expressing their excitement:

"OMG TGG ITS HAPPENING ITS HAPPENING ITS HAPPENING."

Another well-known figure in the Grand Theft Auto community, @DarkViperAU, also seemed hyped about the prospect of Rockstar making a post on GTA 6-related December 27:

While most fans expected GTA 6 trailer 2 to be released, some thought that Rockstar might post screenshots instead. However, a handful of gamers were still skeptical:

Unfortunately, after removing the Instagram post on December 27, 2024, the studio added one about the Rockstar Store Holiday Sale.

Rockstar Games did end up uploading a new post on Instagram today, bringing the total post count back to 27. However, it wasn't a second trailer or a couple of GTA 6 screenshots as fans had hoped but an update on the ongoing Rockstar Store Holiday Sale. Needless to say, they were disappointed, as indicated by the comments on the new post.

The first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer came out more than a year ago in 2023, and nothing else has been revealed or offered since. The highly anticipated title is scheduled for a Fall 2025 release as of this writing.
