There are several GTA games available for Android, and fans of the Grand Theft Auto series should know about all of them. Developed by Rockstar Games, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has been there from 1997, and the last game, Grand Theft Auto V, was launched in 2013. The upcoming game, Grand Theft Auto VI, is scheduled to come out next year, during Fall 2025.
Not all Grand Theft Auto titles have been ported to Android and iOS devices, but some of the most popular ones are there. This includes all three 3D Universe titles, as well as some other console-exclusive games. Some of these games have different versions as well, and both are available at the same time. As one of the most popular video game franchises in the world, all GTA mobile games are quite popular among gamers.
In light of that, this article presents a comprehensive list of all GTA games available for Android and iOS, as of August 2024.
GTA games available for Android and iOS devices
Here's the list of all GTA games for Android and iOS, downloadable from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively:
1) Grand Theft Auto III
The original GTA 3 was way ahead of its time when it came out in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. It's set in Liberty City in 2001, a location based on New York City. The game was ported to Android and iOS in 2011, during the 10th anniversary of the game. As such, this is one of the oldest GTA games available for Android and iOS.
2) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
This game takes place in Vice City in the 80s, the same location where Grand Theft Auto 6 will be returning to, and it's based on Miami, Florida. It was originally launched in 2002 for the PS2. Just like Grand Theft Auto 3, this title was also ported to Android and iOS during the game's 10th anniversary, in 2012.
3) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
The San Andreas map is a loose representation of southern California with three different cities — Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas. These cities are based on Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, respectively, and the game takes place in 1992. San Andreas was first released in 2004, and the Android/iOS ports came out in 2013, thereby expanding the list of GTA games available for Android and iOS greatly.
4) Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
Chinatown Wars has some distinctive features that sets it apart from the series. It's played from a top-down perspective in a shortened version of the Grand Theft Auto 4 Liberty City map. Chinatown Wars was practically made for handheld touchscreen devices, as it was originally launched on the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP in 2009. The mobile ports came out in 2010 (iOS) and 2014 (Android) respectively.
5) Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
Liberty City Stories (2005) was one of two handheld-exclusive titles originally launched for the PSP, the other being Vice City Stories (2006). LCS was ported to iOS and Android in 2015 and 2016, respectively, whereas VCS never got a mobile port. This game takes you back to the 3D Universe Liberty City.
6) Grand Theft Auto III – NETFLIX
The Definitive Edition remaster of Grand Theft Auto 3 is one of three HD remasters of the original Grand Theft Auto Trilogy that came out in 2021 for PC and consoles. This remastered trilogy was a massive flop, but the mobile ports are somewhat better. All three remastered titles were ported as GTA games available for Android and iOS in 2023 by Netflix.
7) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – NETFLIX
This is the remastered version of Vice City released as part of the Definitive Edition Trilogy on mobile. The Netflix edition of Vice City is among the latest GTA games available for Android and iOS, and like the predecessor, it offers a refined color palette for the skybox as an optional setting.
8) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – NETFLIX
The Netflix version of San Andreas is also counted among the latest batch of GTA games available for Android and iOS. This one also has an advanced color palette that closely resembles that of the original game. The bugs that plagued the original Definitive Edition release doesn't affect the mobile versions. It should be noted that all three of these require a Netflix subscription.
