New GTA leaks on Christmas Day: All known so far

Rockstar Games’ GTA series has suffered another leak on Christmas 2024. According to a well-known insider named Ben (X/@videotechuk_), the design documents for Grand Theft Auto 3, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto 3 Online have been leaked.

While the leaks are yet to be confirmed by the gaming studio, they appear to have been verified by Obbe Vermeij (X/@ObbeVermeij), the former technical director at Rockstar North.

The new GTA leaks have disclosed interesting information about the aforementioned 3D Universe titles.

Important details to know from the new GTA leaks on Christmas Day 2024

The new GTA leaks were shared on the Internet Archive website by a user named John Doe. While the leaked details were primarily focused on Grand Theft Auto 3 Online, there were also some intriguing details about the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas gameplay.

According to the leaks, Rockstar Games had planned to release a multiplayer version of 2001’s Grand Theft Auto 3, with the following features:

• Multiplayer groups such as Police, Mob, Mafia, Yakuza, Bikers, and others.
• Unique meeting locations for each group and reputation system.
• Character customization.
• Skill systems such as hacking, chemistry, charisma, intelligence, and others.
• Voice and text chat.
• Purchasable apartments and garages.
• Player inventory system.

Readers should note that the leaked document contained many other minor details from the project, including Rockstar Games' reported plans to include six more girlfriends in GTA San Andreas. They are as follows:

• Mile-High Millie: Air hostess
• Kylie Goodpoke: The Gun Nut
• Coochie Robinson: The Gangbanger
• Bobbi La Queef: The Cheerleader
• Suzi Nookie: Rubber Nurse
• Honey-G: Superstar

According to Obbe Vermeij, the Grand Theft Auto 3 design documents were mainly written and maintained by Leslie Benzies (the former president of Rockstar North). Vermeij had worked on the multiplayer version of the game for around four weeks and stated the following regarding his work:

“Players could get points by killing each other. Players could steal cars etc. It was obvious it needed a LOT more work and we abandoned it.”

Vermeij stated that the Barking Dog Studios (who later became Rockstar Vancouver) was asked to explore the design of the multiplayer game. A few members of the studio apparently also visited Rockstar North in Edinburgh to discuss more.

However, Vermeij said the Grand Theft Auto 3 Online project was eventually scrapped, and Rockstar Vancouver was asked to work on Bully.

While veteran Grand Theft Auto fans were upset that Rockstar Games apparently broke the 15-year-old tradition of releasing new screenshots for its upcoming GTA titles on Christmas Eve, the new leaks came as a surprise.
