Despite Rockstar Games not releasing GTA 6 trailer 2, the upcoming Grand Theft Auto sequel has undoubtedly become one of the most anticipated titles in the gaming industry today. Its trailer 1 has garnered over 230 million views on YouTube so far. Not only fans but also certain analysts have had their eyes on Rockstar’s next likely blockbuster.
According to a recent report by Financial Times, DFC Intelligence analysts have projected a staggering $3.2 billion revenue from GTA 6 sales in its first year alone. What’s interesting is the projected $1 billion revenue from GTA 6 pre orders alone, possibly making it one of the biggest entertainment product releases in the history.
GTA 6 could shatter multiple records when it finally releases
Since last year, the GTA 6 budget is rumoured to be $1-$2 billion. This makes it one of the most costly Grand Theft Auto projects in the history. However, as mentioned, analysts now expect the game to generate over 3 billion in revenue within 12 months. By possibly making more money than its rumoured budget, it can no doubt become one of the most financially successfully product launches of all time.
Keep in mind that Grand Theft Auto 5 grossed $1 billion within three days of its launch. That record is likely to be broken now by its successor in 2025-2026. Most of the revenue is likely to come from the game's PlayStation 5 version due to the console having a 68% market share by the time of writing.
Moreover, like its trailer, which broke multiple Guinness World Records, the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title will likely break more such records after its release.

When can fans expect GTA 6 to be released?
Earlier this year, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO confirmed Grand Theft Auto 6 to release in 2025, more specifically in fall 2025. Since then, there hasn’t been any news or update on the release date. Many fans seem concerned the game is internally delayed to 2026.
As of December 31, 2024, the game is still scheduled to be released in 2025. It’s too early to say if the game will be delayed. Rockstar can still release the second trailer of the game with a specific release date of Q4 2025.
