Rockstar Games recently released the first GTA 6 trailer on Bilibili — a popular video-sharing platform in China — and it piqued the community’s interest. The trailer was thoroughly examined by the Digital Foundry YouTube channel (a popular video game analyst) and they shared some interesting details.

While the YouTube video is currently only available for paid members, popular GTA insider Ben (X/@videotechuk_) shared some details on their X profile.

Digital Foundry shares interesting details from the BiliBili GTA 6 trailer

On January 5, 2025, Ben shared the above post discussing the GTA 6 trailer details found by Digital Foundry. According to the YouTube channel, the latest render of the trailer has the following gameplay details:

  • The water surfaces have SSR.
  • Glossy, metal, and plastic materials have ray-traced reflections.
  • NPCs have SSR shadows.
  • In-game objects may have RT shadows.
  • Rockstar Games may have used ray tracing-based fake interiors or parallax interiors for various buildings.

Readers should note that while the GTA 6 trailer looks highly detailed and realistic on the video-sharing platform, many of its minor details were compressed due to YouTube's video hosting technology. However, Bilibili is known for hosting high-quality videos and the recently discovered details were found there only.

In a subsequent tweet, Ben also stated that the details might have changed now as the trailer was released over a year ago.

It is worth noting that Rockstar Games always changes a few things from its gameplay trailers. Both Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 look significantly better in the released version compared to their first trailers. Therefore, we can expect better visuals and graphical enhancements after the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025.

Commenting about the use of parallax interiors cited by Digital Foundry, one X user named Laze (X/@xlazefps) stated that the buildings have actual interior objects rather than the parallax effect. They shared a clip from the BiliBili GTA 6 trailer where a white object was seen loading inside one of the buildings as soon as the camera moved close to it.

The community continues to examine the new version of the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer to find more details about the upcoming game.
