Rockstar Games is reportedly planning to include GTA 5 in the Xbox Game Pass for PC. According to a report by Tez2 (X/@TezFunz2), a renowned Rockstar insider, the popular 2013 title will be available for free for paid subscribers in the future. However, they did not mention any date for the event.
Tez2 is known for various accurate leaks in the past, but gamers are still advised to wait for an official confirmation from the American gaming studio.
Insider discloses Rockstar Games’ plan to include GTA 5 in the Xbox Game Pass for PC
On July 29, 2024, Tez2 shared the above post where they mentioned that GTA 5’s PC version would be included in the Xbox Game Pass for PC.
As of 2024, the Grand Theft Auto 5 price on PC is around $30. Gamers can purchase the title from Steam, Rockstar Games Launcher, and Epic Games Store. However, if the insider’s report is true, Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers will be able to play Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online absolutely free.
Tez2 further stated that once the game gets listed in the Game Pass, it would use the Rockstar Games Launcher to launch GTA 5. Although PC players will be able to start the game from the Xbox application on PC, it will eventually run Rockstar’s launcher. As such, the game will not have a cross-platform option.
It is worth noting that Rockstar Games never added a crossplay option for Grand Theft Auto 5 on any platform. Therefore, fans are looking forward to a crossplay option in Grand Theft Auto 6 in the future.
Gamers should also note that the 2013 title will be available on the PC version of the Game Pass. Xbox offers many versions of the Game Pass. Tez2 only mentioned that Grand Theft Auto 5 would be included in the Xbox Game Pass for PC. Whether or not it will be included in the Ultimate version of the Game Pass is not yet known.
While many PC fans are excited about the news, some also inquired about the GTA 5 Expanded and Enhanced version on PC. Rockstar Games released the latest version of the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in March 2022. It’s been over two years, and PC players are still waiting for the update.
