Rockstar Games' upcoming Grand Theft Auto title, GTA 6, will be set in a fictional state named Leonida, which seems to be the developer's version of Florida. Its predecessor, GTA 5, features a city called Los Santos, based on real-life Los Angeles. For those unaware, Los Angeles city has been struck by devastating wildfires in recent days. A GTA 6 fan account on X, @GTASixInfo, posted about the incident but linked Rockstar Games to it.

"What if Rockstar intentionally started the LA wildfires to symbolize the end of Los Santos"

The post, which has now been deleted, seemed to suggest that "Rockstar intentionally started the LA wildfires to symbolize the end of Los Santos."

The wildfires have damaged several structures across the city, and as per a recent report by The Guardian, the death toll has risen to 11. This is likely why the post was not well-received by the community and earned significant backlash.

The owner of the GTA 6 fan account in question has apologized for it.

"We deeply apologize for our recent post regarding the LA wildfires. I was unfortunately unaware this was posted, and if I was, as the owner of the account, I would not have allowed that. As that post is NOT in anyway shape or form acceptable."

They further claimed to have removed the members of the account responsible for this post, along with other members who apparently plagiarized posts and recycled bait engagement tweets repeatedly. The poster, who admitted to being the owner of the @GTASixInfo account, assured followers these issues had been resolved and that it would not happen again.

"I have taken action by removing the team members responsible for that post. I have also removed the members that have continued to discredit and plagiarize posts, as well as the recycling of baiting engagement tweets. I thought I could give them the benefit of the doubt that they would stop, but clearly not. I want to assure you that these issues have been resolved, and will NOT happen again."

The owner of the X fan account @GTASixInfo stated that they were unaware of the tweet linking the LA Wildfires to Rockstar Games, and would not have allowed such a thing to be posted. As mentioned earlier, they have also stated that the team members responsible for the same have been removed. The apology tweet further stated that an entirely new management team will be posting from now onwards.

This fan account currently has 49.3 thousand followers on X, and usually posts about Rockstar Games titles, especially the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The next entry in this franchise is the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6.

GTA 6 will release in 2025 during the season of Fall on current-gen consoles, that is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
