The GTA 6 mapping project is a fan project that aims to speculate what the upcoming Rockstar Games title's official map might look like. Those involved in it have analyzed footage from the title's leaked clips and its first official trailer to put a concept map together. The project was stalled for quite a few months due to the lack of any new details but recently got its v0.047 update.
The update revealed a dramatic change in the northeast section of the concept map, extending the landmass by a fair bit. The map's creator, DuPz0r, also mentioned a few other changes in the v0.047 update on the GTA 6 mapping project's official Discord server.
Note - This is just a fan-made map made by analyzing leaks and the official trailer. The official map could end up looking very different, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.
GTA 6 mapping project v0.047 update changes the north-east section of the speculated map
The GTA 6 mapping project update v0.047 suggests an extension in the map's northeast landmass. This is quite a drastic change when compared to the project's previous version — v0.046. According to DuPz0r on Discord, the "speculative" north-east coast has been updated based on new triangulation data.
Some other changes, such as the South Beach area being updated in its entirety after continued analysis, have also made their way into the v0.047 update. However, DuPz0r stated that the map's border outlines in areas with not much detail are "highly speculative".
More significant changes are expected to be made in the mapping project when Rockstar Games releases the GTA 6 trailer 2 or new screenshots. Unfortunately, the developer has yet to indicate when we can expect any of those things to be released.
In fact, many had expected some new screenshots on December 24, as that was the case with both Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5. But the 15-year-old GTA tradition was apparently broken on Christmas Eve when Rockstar maintained silence. That said, with the game scheduled to release during Fall 2025, more information should be shared in the near future.
Interestingly, fans had reportedly carried out a similar project before Grand Theft Auto 5's release in 2013, and that speculated map ended up being pretty accurate.
Nevertheless, readers are still advised to take the GTA 6 mapping project with a grain of salt, since this map is only fan-made, completely based on speculation, and has no affiliation with Rockstar Games.
