GTA 6 pre orders expected to generate $1,000,000,000 in revenue: Report

Rockstar Games has yet to announce an official GTA 6 pre order date as of this writing, i.e., January 3, 2025. That said, given the incredible amount of excitement around the upcoming title, it is expected to do extremely well financially. Per a recent report by Financial Times, analysts at video games research group DFC Intelligence believe GTA 6 could generate more than $1,000,000,000 (one billion dollars) in pre orders.

Whether that happens remains to be seen; however, note that its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5, made a billion dollars in sales within three days since launch back in 2013. It has now been more than a decade without a new entry in the series, and as mentioned, the excitement is off the charts. So, there seems to be a possibility nonetheless.

In additon to the expected GTA 6 pre order figure, the same report by Financial Times further mentions that DFC Intelligence analysts expect $3.2 billion in revenue from GTA 6 sales in the first 12 months post launch.

At the moment, the title is set for a Fall 2025 release, as per Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar Games' parent company). Not much has been showcased since its first trailer dropped back in December 2023. This has worried some fans regarding a possible delay to 2026, but nothing as such has been stated officially by Rockstar or Take-Two so far.

Nevertheless, as it is currently slated to release later this year, some sort of news, possibly screenshots, a new trailer, or information about a more precise release date or even a GTA 6 pre order date, could arrive in the near future, perhaps close to Take-Two Interactive's next earnings call which could be held in February 2025.

Grand Theft Auto 6 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles at launch. A GTA 6 PC port has not been officially confirmed yet, but is expected to release at a later date, as that has been the case with several Grand Theft Auto titles in the past.
