The Take-Two CEO was recently asked about the pricing for the Grand Theft Auto games, but he avoided specifying a figure and explained the company's general approach to product pricing. He also stated that when Take-Two decides on a game's price, they strive to ensure that it's "good news" for the buyers.
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company that owns Rockstar Games, recently held their Q4 2024 earnings call, during which they disclosed some interesting details, including the release window. When it comes to the GTA 6's pricing, some are speculating that it will cost around $70, while others believe it will have a record price tag, like up to $150.
Take-Two CEO talked about possible GTA 6's pricing during earnings call
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was recently questioned about "pricing dynamics" for the Grand Theft Auto series, in a report. Zelnick talked about Take-Two's overall philosophy of pricing its goods, but he refrained from making any direct comments or confirming any information regarding the GTA 6's pricing. Here's what he said:
"Look, there's more content constantly being made available, and we really aim to deliver great value at any given time. We're so focused on delivering more value than what we charge. And that's sort of the rubric. And any time we establish a price, we want to make sure that it's good news for the consumer; that the experience vastly over delivers in the context of the cost. That's the goal."

It was in 2022 when most AAA developers started charging $70 instead of $60 for their new releases. One of the first publishers to do so was Take-Two Interactive, back in 2020, as they started this new pricing policy with NBA 2K21. Zelnick had justified the pricing, saying:
"In terms of frontline pricing for NBA 2K21, I think that worked out very much as expected. And as planned, it's in a premium offering at the highest possible level, the title was built from the ground up for next-gen, so first title here that has been created that way. And the acceptance by consumers has been nothing short of extraordinary."

With that being said, there's no definitive report on the official GTA 6 price as of this writing as the game isn't available for pre-orders yet. However, it should be noted that Take-Two has recently increased the pricing of its subscription service, GTA+. A GTA + membership, which used to be $6 per month, costs $8 per month at the moment, which is a 33% increase.
GTA 5, despite being over a decade old, is nowhere near as cheap as any other 2013 title, and it's still selling quite well.
