GTA 6 release confirmation reportedly important for some publishers

It appears knowing the GTA 6 release date is not only important for video game enthusiasts but also for several other game developers. According to a recent report by Jason Schreier on Bloomberg, some gaming studios are waiting for Rockstar Games to make its move before announcing their upcoming projects.

This is an indication that the entertainment and gaming industry in general are looking forward to the upcoming Grand Theft Auto title’s release date. However, Rockstar Games has remained silent about the matter for over a year now.

New Bloomberg report says the GTA 6 release date is important for other game devs

On December 9, 2024, Jason Schreier published a new report shedding light on the Grand Theft Auto 6 development process. Towards the end of the report, he stated the following:

“Anticipation is so high that some competing game publishers are waiting as long as possible to commit to their release dates for the fall…The publishers want to see whether GTA 6 will make its deadline or slip into 2026…and they’re determined to keep their own games far, far away.”

It is worth noting that the currently available GTA 6 release date is fall 2025, as revealed by Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar Games’ parent company) a long time ago. Although there is nearly a year left before the anticipated release, neither company has begun the Grand Theft Auto 6 marketing process yet.

The Bloomberg report also stated the following:

“GTA 6 has already missed multiple deadlines, a common practice at Rockstar, but Take-Two says it’s now on track.”

This means there is still a high chance that Rockstar Games will meet the announced deadline of fall 2025 for the upcoming game.

According to various sources, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been in development since 2014, and the process was paced after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. The gaming community got the first official glimpse of the title in December 2023, when Rockstar Games revealed that the GTA 6 release date would be in 2025.

While fans expected the Grand Theft Auto 6 promotion process to kickstart this year, the lack of it is seemingly bothering other game studios as well.
