Rockstar Games' GTA 6 and Gearbox Software/2K Games' Borderlands 4 are two big upcoming titles under Take-Two Interactive's umbrella. The former will be released during Fall 2025, and the latter is supposed to launch at some point in the company's Fiscal 2026 window, which also contains the Fall 2025 period. However, Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has reportedly claimed in a recent interview that the release windows of the two games wouldn't cross paths.

That said, no further details have been provided on Grand Theft Auto 6 or the Borderlands sequel's exact release timeframes as of this writing. Although fans expected more to be revealed about the Grand Theft Auto sequel at Take-Two's recent earnings call, the company only re-confirmed its previously announced Fall 2025 release window.

Take-Two CEO reportedly claims the releases of GTA 6 and Borderlands 4 won't cross paths

Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, reportedly revealed in a recent interview with Variety that Grand Theft Auto 6 and Borderlands 4 will not be released close to each other. Here's what he said, according to Variety, when asked if the two upcoming title releases would cross paths:

“I think it’s safe to say that we wouldn’t, and no one would, stack up huge releases unnecessarily,”

Take-Two held its Q2 2025 earnings call on November 6, 2024, during which it was revealed that Borderlands 4 is currently planned for a Fiscal 2026 launch. The GTA 6 release window also falls within that period, but it has been narrowed down to Fall 2025. Note that the latter's release window was confirmed earlier this year in May, and has only been reiterated in the earnings calls since.

Both Grand Theft Auto and Borderlands are popular franchises, and launching their new installments close to each other might affect the sales of either title to an extent. Therefore, it isn't surprising that the company is reportedly planning the two releases such that they don't clash.

Mafia: The Old Country is another upcoming title under Take-Two's belt, and more on it will be showcased in December 2024. Grand Theft Auto fans also expect more on GTA 6 to be showcased then, as it has almost been a year since its first trailer dropped. However, whether or not we get a GTA 6 trailer 2 soon, remains to be seen.
