The GTA 3 leaks from December 25, 2024, continue to disclose more intriguing details about the game. According to an X user named GTA 6 Info (X/@GTASixInfo), Rockstar Games planned to include five multiplayer maps in the mobile version of the 2001 title. On December 26, 2024, the user shared a thread and stated:
“Some multiplayer maps were discovered in the files of the 10-year anniversary mobile version of GTA 3. I have these maps on my PC, and they’re fascinating to explore!”

Five new GTA 3 multiplayer maps were discovered in the leaked files
The new GTA leaks included the following five multiplayer maps from the mobile version of the 2001 title:
- The Sewers
- Industrial Park
- The Tower
- Chinatown
- Red Light District
Here are some brief details about the leaked maps shared by the X user:
- The Sewers: Features a complex network of tunnels. It also includes a hidden bank vault.
- Industrial Park: The map looks similar to the Call of Duty multiplayer map. The buildings include staircases and sniper vantage points.
- The Tower: Map area includes the under-construction Staunton Plaza located in Fort Staunton, Liberty City.
- Chinatown: The map is very similar to Liberty City but has distinct boundaries. Also includes a sewer system.
Explaining the map of Red Light District from the Grand Theft Auto Online 2001 project, the user stated:
“This map includes boundaries and some notable changes, such as stairs added in front of Claude’s safehouse, giving players access to the roof. It offers a glimpse of what multiplayer gameplay might have been like, with elements reminiscent of GTA meets Call of Duty.”
For years, fans knew that Rockstar Games planned and canceled a multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto 3. However, the things disclosed by the new GTA leaks surprised everyone as the studio was surely thinking way ahead of its time.
Obbe Vermeij — the former Technical Director at Rockstar Games — also acknowledged the GTA 3 leaked documents and confirmed some of the details. He stated that he worked on the multiplayer project for around four weeks before the studio decided to scrap it permanently.
