Since its release in 2021, the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition has been criticized for its bugs and glitches. However, The Grand Theft Auto community was met with a surprise last week when a new update 1.112 was released. The latest patch seemingly fixed many issues, and brought back fan-requested features like Classic Lighting and somewhat volumetric clouds.

According to a recent November 19, 2024, report by TrueAchievements, the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition has witnessed a major increase in player count on Xbox consoles following the update. The report also suggests an increase in PC players post-update.

Gamers are seemingly giving the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition another chance post-update 1.112

TrueAchievements, along with Game Insights, reported that the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition has seen an increase of over 700% in player count post-update. Here’s a breakdown of how much the playerbase has increased in each game of the trilogy, as per the report:

  • Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Definitive Edition – 135%
  • Grand Theft Auto Vice City Definitive Edition – 300%
  • Grand Theft Auto 3 Definitive Edition – 398%

The game currently being part of the Xbox Black Friday deals could also contribute to the player count increase.

Meanwhile, there has been a slight improvement in the Steam charts. According to it, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Definitive Edition touched a high of 715 players last week, while Grand Theft Auto 3 Definitive Edition and Grand Theft Auto Vice City Definitive Edition also saw a slight increase in player count.

Update 1.112 was released on November 12, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and later on November 13, 2024, for PS4, PC, and Xbox One. While the official GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition patch notes don’t explain what's new in the game, fans have noticed improved lighting, clouds, and skies.

On another note, the Grand Theft Auto community can expect the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer 2 to be released any time now.
