Meta has shared an update on GTA San Andreas VR. The parent company of Facebook and Instagram has been developing a virtual reality version of Rockstar Games’ 2004 title since 2021. While the news went silent after that, the parent company was recently spotted confirming to a fan about its ongoing development. However, a confirmed release date has yet to be announced.

Nonetheless, fans are excited to know that the GTA San Andreas VR project is still going on.

Meta confirms the continuation of the GTA San Andreas VR project

On June 30, 2024, popular YouTuber GTA Series Videos (X/@GTASeries) shared a screenshot where Meta was seen confirming the ongoing development of GTA San Andreas VR. A YouTube user named @internetpebble4731 asked:

“Meta do you have and idea if san andreas vr has a release date of has been canceled”

Where @MetaQuestVR replied the following:

This confirms that the popular VR-making company hasn’t abandoned the ambitious project yet. It is worth noting that in October 2021, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta himself, announced that they were developing GTA San Andreas VR for the Meta Quest 2.

As of 2024, the company has already released its Meta Quest 3. As a result, many Grand Theft Auto fans believed that the GTA San Andreas VR project had been canceled in the background. The lack of updates on the matter from Rockstar Games and Meta also contributed to the speculations.
