New GTA 5 mod adds Liberty City with jaw-dropping visuals

A new GTA 5 mod has recently emerged that adds Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto 4 into the 2013 title. It was developed by a modder named World Travel, and fans are very impressed with their work. Screenshots and videos of The Liberty City Preservation Project have been extensively shared online.

The developer added a fully functional open world right next to the HD Universe State of San Andreas. However, it is only available on PC.

Fans share impressive visuals from the Liberty City GTA 5 mod

On December 31, 2024, one X user named GTA 6 Info (X/@GTASixInfo) shared four screenshots from the Liberty City GTA 5 mod. The images showed various areas from the HD Universe Liberty City with high-resolution textures.

The GTA 5 mod includes a functioning Liberty City with traffic, pedestrians, different types of weather, and general ambiance. One of the screenshots showed Grand Theft Auto 5 protagonist Franklin Clinton standing in the Star Junction area of Liberty City.

The developer also released an official trailer on the Jerry521 (YouTube/@Jerry-521) YouTube channel that got over 100k views in two weeks.

Ben (X/@videotechuk_), a prominent member of the Grand Theft Auto community also shared gameplay footage of The Liberty City Preservation Project mod. The video showed one of the metro stations in Liberty City and the police department at work.

When you are in the modded city, the pause menu shows the map of Liberty City instead of the State of San Andreas.

While the GTA player base has been asking for a Grand Theft Auto 4 remastered version for years, Rockstar Games has yet to show any interest in doing so. However, the Liberty City in the GTA 5 mods feels like what the remastered 2008 title could have been.

The ported Liberty City looked brighter, and all the textures were highly detailed compared to the vanilla game. The map also included various points of interest, such as the airport, internet cafes, car mechanics, clothing stores, and many others.
