On December 14, 2024, many players stumbled upon what appeared to be a new GTA 6 leak. The 29-second clip seemed to showcase the game in its developmental stages, just like the major leak from 2022. Despite looking like authentic footage, however, it is reportedly fake.

A Discord user named Long Long Time claimed responsibility for creating the video. They posted an image from the clip and said:

“I’m sorry chat…”

Long Long Time previously made a video featuring a Jason-like character that resembled GTA 6 footage. The clip was reportedly created using Unreal Engine 5, hinting that the new footage might have been made with the same engine.

Fans react to the new GTA 6 leak turning out to be a fake

When the footage first surfaced, Grand Theft Auto fans on social media were intrigued, and many quickly assumed it was a legitimate GTA 6 leak.

People reacted to Discord user Long Long Time's admission in various ways.

As shown above, some continue to believe the footage is the real deal, while others have accepted that it was fan-made.

One possible reason so many thought the footage was genuine was due to the buzz surrounding GTA 6’s recent win at The Game Awards 2024, where the title was named the Most Anticipated Game.

This win generated significant hype, and a leak at this point could have been a serious blow to Rockstar Games’ security, especially since the studio has not shared new details about the game since December 2023.

When can fans expect new Grand Theft Auto 6 information?

Rockstar Games has been tight-lipped since releasing Grand Theft Auto 6’s first trailer in 2023. Since then, no additional trailers or updates have been shared publicly. However, with 2024 drawing to a close, it wouldn't be surprising if the developer dropped a second trailer soon.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently spoke to Conner Mather on YouTube, describing the upcoming title as “extraordinary.”

It’s clear that the company has full confidence in the game, which fans are set to experience in 2025 if it doesn’t get delayed.
