GTA Online has recently welcomed fresh content via the Bottom Dollar Bounties update. Among them is a bounty-hunting business that generates a Most Wanted mission once every day. Interestingly, Rockstar Games seems to have put in a Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR 2) story mission reference in the new Leroy O'Neil Most Wanted mission as per X user @videotechuk_.
They uploaded a short clip showing how RDR 2's protagonist, Arthur Morgan, gets knocked out in a similar fashion as GTA Online players will during this specific Most Wanted mission. The sequence will continue with them waking up in a basement, needing to escape, which is akin to what Arthur is required to do in that RDR 2 story mission.
DISCLAIMER: Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA Online Most Wanted spoilers ahead.
New GTA Online Most Wanted mission reportedly references RDR 2 story mission - Blessed are the Peacemakers
During the RDR 2 mission, Blessed are the Peacemakers, Arthur gets knocked out while watching over a meeting between Dutch Van Der Linde and Colm O'Driscoll. GTA Online players will also be knocked out in quite a similar fashion when searching for a Most Wanted target, Leroy O'Neil, at Blaine County's abandoned motel.
They will then wake up in a basement, stripped of their clothes, weapons, as well as phone, with a momentary haze effect, and will be tasked to escape. The story mission in RDR 2 features a comparable haze effect as well when Arthur is tasked with escaping the O'Driscoll basement.
These similarities are seemingly the reason behind @videotechuk_ believing that the new GTA Online Most Wanted mission has referenced Rockstar's 2018 release. However, it should be noted that this hasn't been confirmed officially.
There are also some differences in the RDR 2 mission, such as a few sequences between Arthur being knocked out and waking up in the basement, as well as him being hung upside down in the latter scenario.
Nevertheless, the similarities are intriguing, to say the least, and can be used to draw parallels as seen in @videotechuk_'s video above.
Besides the Leroy O'Neil Most Wanted mission, Rockstar Games has added a lot more things via the Bottom Dollar Bounties update. In fact, some unreleased content has been discovered in the summer update's files, such as a Ludendorff Cemetery Survival mode.
