A few days after Rockstar Games gifted its employees GTA 6-themed merch for the holiday season, one of them is reportedly selling it online. As disclosed by renowned insider Ben (X/@videotechuk_), the sweatshirt is up for bidding, and some fans are going crazy over it.
As seen in the tweet above, the merch was up for bidding in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The first screenshot showed the bidding price at £310 ($389.82) with 15 bidders. However, later, the price increased to £1020 ($1282.65) with 25 bidders.
This has certainly caught the Grand Theft Auto community’s interest, and many shared their thoughts.
Popular GTA YouTuber TGG (X/@TGGonYT) commented that paying 1000 pounds for something that can be custom-made for cheap was crazy.
Many others also stated that the GTA 6-themed print can be made easily.
One user named Matías Calvo (X/@mdqmatias) stated that Rockstar Games should make the merch available for everyone:
“Why wouldn't they make this kind of merch available to everyone, right?”
Another user named k8TG. (X/@HysKobie) theorized that the bidding was just Rockstar Games testing the GTA fans for future merchandise:
“Probably just rockstar testing how much people are willing to pay for merchandise, so that when they do release GTA 6 merchandise they can put it at a high price.”
User Edgar the Human (X/@ShockingKid01) even theorized a new Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer date from the post.
Some fans also shared their concerns for the employee who was selling the official merch.
