Rockstar Games seems to have been subjected to yet another leak in the first month of the year GTA 6 has been scheduled to release. This time, it is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas' source code that has reportedly been leaked. Last month (December 2024), design documents of several pre-2010 GTA titles, including Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, were leaked online around Christmas.
As far as the title's source code leak is concerned, no major details seem to have emerged as of this writing. That said, @videotechuk_, a prominent member of the Grand Theft Auto community on X, suggests that the leaked ZIP file contains a text file called "FileList.txt."
GTA San Andreas source code reportedly leaked before GTA 6 release in 2025
Reportedly, the source code for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which came out for the PlayStation 2 back in 2004, was leaked in January 2025. However, no details look to have surfaced till now, as the file is believed to be to be password-protected.
However, the design document leak that occurred last month allegedly revealed some intriguing details about Rockstar Games' 2004 release, such as canceled GTA San Andreas girlfriends.
Interestingly, Grand Theft Auto 5's source code had similarly been leaked around Christmas 2023, revealing canceled content like story mode DLCs. Other well-known video game franchises, such as Saints Row and Halo, have also been victims of leaks in recent weeks.
GTA 6 has been the victim of multiple leaks as well, such as its development clips leaking online back in September 2022. Its official trailer was also leaked several hours ahead of its official release time in December 2023.
As per Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, the title is currently scheduled to come out on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles in Fall 2025. A Rockstar Games employee has seemingly hinted at a 2025 release of GTA 6 as well. That being said, its first trailer is still the only official piece of media showcased so far.
