Rockstar Games previously rolled out a GTA Online account ban wave to penalize those who tried bypassing the BattlEye anti-cheat. However, the move not only impacted cheaters but also genuine PC players, as reported earlier. Now, it seems that they have lifted some of these bans that were false-positive. Popular insider Tez2 reported on X earlier today, October 4, 2024, that Rockstar Games has reversed some of the GTA Online bans.
The players whose account bans have been lifted should have received an email from the developers. Read on to know more about this.
GTA Online account bans finally being lifted for some players, should be back online in two hours: Report
As can be seen above, Tez2 provided an update on the previously reported GTA Online ban wave that wrongly affected many non-cheaters or normal players. According to their new report, some players who were wrongly banned last month filed an appeal; however, they received a generic response that they weren’t eligible for an appeal.
Surprisingly, their account bans have been lifted with another email from Rockstar Games. Here’s what the email states:
“We have reviewed your account and your GTA Online ban is being lifted. Please allow two hours for your account to be fully reinstated if it isn’t already.”
How to check if your Grand Theft Auto Online account ban has been lifted?
As stated previously, some of those who filed an appeal earlier have received an email from Rockstar Support that their account ban is being lifted. It might take some time for the emails to reach everyone, so it’s recommended to check your inbox if you filed an appeal.
That said, if you have also been wrongly banned but haven’t filed an appeal yet, you may still be able to do so by visiting the link below:
Keep in mind that the BattlEye anti-cheat still has some issues that players should check out before playing the game on PC.
