GTA 6's release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles will arguably be the biggest event related to gaming in 2025. While fans are eager to get their hands on the next Rockstar Games title, it seems that other studios might be planning to drop their own major releases around it. Matt Booty, Xbox's Game Content and Studios President, indicated the same in a recent podcast. Here's what he said:
"I think many across the industry are of course going to plan around GTA 6, and we're all looking forward to that game, which should be amazing."
Matt Booty also mentioned that they don't want to step on themselves by launching one game too close to the other, ensuring that each entry from their planned lineup gets an opportunity to shine.
GTA 6's release window is officially set for Fall 2025
Speaking on Variety's Strictly Business weekly podcast, the Xbox Game Content and Studios President talked about making sure that they don't land in the shadow of someone else's big release.
This makes sense considering GTA 6's release has the potential to greatly overshadow any other game close to it. Therefore, titles that are going to launch next year, such as Fable, and Doom: The Dark Ages, might not get an exact release date until more is known about the launch of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto sequel.
Fall 2025 was confirmed as the official GTA 6 release window at Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar's parent company)'s latest earning call in May. Other gaming studios that wish to plan around its launch to avoid being overshadowed have plenty of time in the first half of next year, but that also depends on when they truly wish to release their projects.
As far as an exact date regarding GTA 6's release is concerned, more information is expected to arrive later this year or very early in 2025, based on Rockstar's marketing pattern for previous releases. GTA 6 trailer 2 is expected to drop in November or December 2024 as well, based on those trends.
