While there is a lot of excitement around GTA 6's release next year, some fans seem a bit concerned about the game being toned down in comparison to past entries. The Grand Theft Auto series is known for its edgy jokes and overall sense of humor. However, with many of Rockstar Games' old guard, such as Dan Houser and Lazlow Jones, now gone, the tone might be a little different.
In a recent Reddit post, user u/AnimeGokuSolos suggested that they wouldn't mind a toned-down GTA 6 if the story was good. They gave the example of how Red Dead Redemption 2 didn't need edgy humor to offer a worthwhile experience.
However, not everyone in the Grand Theft Auto fanbase is of the same opinion. u/MuscularCheeseburger stated that it wouldn't make sense for a game focused on violence to be toned down:
"Why would the game tone down on things like gore when our main objective is usually clearing out buildings of people with an AR?"
They also mentioned that controversies from edgy jokes and gameplay often give the Grand Theft Auto games a lot of publicity and increase sales numbers:
"Rockstars controversies are usually what helps their games sell even more."
In fact, most of the fanbase seemed to agree with u/MuscularCheeseburger's opinion. Here are a few more comments suggesting that the next Grand Theft Auto game won't be toned down:
Needless to say, there are also fans who think there will be a little bit of censorship. Others don't care much about the tone and just want to experience the gameplay.
That being said, GTA 6's story and theme are still a mystery. The game's first trailer debuted six months ago, but it didn't reveal anything significant about the plot or even gameplay features. Future trailers might focus on these aspects more, but that is not certain.
Details about GTA 6's story might be revealed in future trailers
There is no way to tell exactly what the next Grand Theft Auto 6 trailers will focus on. However, if its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5's trailers are anything to go by, then they should reveal a bit more about the game's plot, themes, and major characters.
Unfortunately, we don't have a release date or window yet for GTA 6 trailer 2. It is expected to be out later this year (likely in November or December) based on Rockstar's marketing patterns fore previous big releases, but that remains to be seen.
Until then, fans can keep themselves entertained with all the fresh content introduced with GTA Online Bottom Dollar Bounties update, including a bounty hunting business, Vigilante Mission-like quests, new vehicles, and more.
