While the gaming community is looking forward to the arrival of GTA 6 in the fall of 2025, Microsoft is rumored to release its upcoming video game, Fable, around the same period. According to a report by Tom Warren (X/@tomwarren) from The Verge, Fable's release window is between October and November 2025.
If so, both Rockstar Games and Microsoft are expected to have a neck-to-neck competition. However, the gaming community is of the opinion that other developers should not compete with Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6.

GTA 6 and Fable could be direct competitors in late 2025, according to release window report

On June 13, 2024, Tom Warren published a report stating that Microsoft could launch Fable in late 2025, which is also the supposed GTA 6 release window.
Rockstar Games previously announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be released in “Calender 2025.” Later, its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, narrowed down the release window to the fall of 2025.
While Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be released on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, Fable will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Game Pass integration.
Popular Rockstar Games insider Ben (X/@videotechuk_) also shared the news and stated that the GTA 6 reveal might overshadow Fable’s influence. They also suggested that other gaming studios should avoid colliding with Rockstar Games while the latter prepares to release its biggest project so far.
Others also agreed and indicated that Microsoft should change its plans.
One user named Austin (X/@H720Gaming) commented:
“No company should target Fall of 2025. Doesn’t matter how big it is, GTA will overshadow everything lol. Then either need to release it a few month prior or wait and release it like spring 2026”
It will be interesting to see what official steps Microsoft takes to prevent Fable's release from clashing with the GTA 6 gameplay reveal.
