GTA 6 PC release date is expected to be delayed as per Rockstar insider

Fans hoping for a Day 1 PC release of GTA 6 might be disappointed with the latest news. Notable Rockstar insider Tez2 has recently made a few claims on the GTA forums, indicating that this title's computer port will likely see a delay. Apparently, this version of the game is buggy, and Rockstar Games doesn't want it to be poorly received.

It's unknown how far the PC port of GTA 6 will be pushed back if these rumors are true. Tez2 thinks it could just be a few months, but there is no way to know for sure at present — especially since the public has nearly no knowledge of this game's actual release date.

On October 23, 2023, Tez2 brought up how some technical reasons might delay GTA 6's debut on the PC market:

"It's really all down to technical reasons. If they could release it day 1, they definitely will. Internally, the PC version is more buggy than the console versions. Rockstar wouldn't want to end up with a "Star Wars Jedi Survivor" or "the Last of Us Part 1" PC situation for the most anticipated game. Best to expect the usual. A delayed PC release."

Star Wars Jedi Survivor and The Last of Us had infamously poorly optimized ports for personal computers, which killed some of the hype around those titles for some gamers. It would make sense that Rockstar Games would like to avoid the same situation with Grand Theft Auto 6, especially since this company had to deal with the huge backlash of the GTA Trilogy bombing hard with critics and fans alike.

Tez2 later clarified on October 24, 2023, that GTA 6's PC port needs more time in development based on what his sources have told him thus far, stating:

"I've heard from various sources that the devs expect VI PC release to happen after citing more time needed. A year ago, I would've been as optimistic as you in regards to a day one release. But hopefully, it's a delay of a few months."

It's unknown how long "a few months" is since that could range from one to six months or even more, for all gamers know. No GTA 6 announcement is in sight, so it's impossible to verify this information right now.

When is GTA 6's release date?

Based on Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick's responses to various questions surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6, it would appear that this game could come out in Fiscal 2025 or Fiscal 2026. The video above shows him briefly responding to a question about the title's release window, stating:

"So we've said we're working on the next iteration of Grand Theft Auto, but Rockstar hasn't announced a release date yet. We've been working on this huge pipeline. We have 36 titles coming to market in Fiscal 25 and 26."

Gamers haven't even gotten a GTA 6 trailer yet, despite the fact that Fiscal 2025 (April 2024 to March 2025) is rapidly approaching.
