Rockstar insider expects an announcement soon, either about GTA 6 or GTA 5 PC update

Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting for an update on GTA 6 for a very long time. Interestingly, Tez2, a reliable Rockstar Games insider and data miner, speculates that an announcement, either related to the much-awaited sequel, or a Grand Theft Auto 5 update could come soon. Rockstar releases a weekly update for the latter's multiplayer every Thursday and usually follows it up with a Newswire post some hours later.

That said, this wasn't the case this time (January 9, 2025), which did raise a few eyebrows. Tez2 commented on an online forum that this wasn't the first time it had happened, and that the last time, back in January 2022, details about GTA 5's then-upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version were provided some weeks later.

It is worth noting that fans are currently awaiting more details on the arrival of that version's exclusive multiplayer features on PC, as announced by Rockstar in November 2024.

Tez2 suggests that the developer may have just started working on an announcement article that could either be about those features coming to PC, or a Community Update that might provide information related to Grand Theft Auto 6.

Back in January 2022, Rockstar Games uploaded a GTA Online weekly update Newswire post on Friday instead of Thursday. A few weeks later, on February 4, 2022, a Community Update provided information about Grand Theft Auto 5's PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

That version has some exclusive features and Rockstar has announced plans to bring those related to Grand Theft Auto Online to PCs this year.

So, in case an update is provided in the near future, just like in 2022, it could be related to this topic. However, Rockstar still hasn't uploaded a Newswire for the weekly update released yesterday, as of this writing.

On the other hand, Grand Theft Auto 6 is supposed to launch later this year, as well, during Fall. Since Rockstar Games didn't share anything about it throughout 2024, it is expected of the developer to do that sometime this year.

Take-Two Interactive's next earnings call is also scheduled for February 6, 2025, so Rockstar might make an announcement around it, just like the first GTA 6 trailer was announced before a November 2023 earnings call.
